1. The ‘White Lotus’ Hits — And Misses

Fans expressed their disappointment on social media as Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola, who portrayed controversial brothers Saxon and Lochlan, were not acknowledged for their performances.

Perhaps the biggest shock was Sam Rockwell receiving a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series despite appearing in only four episodes. It turns out that unforgettable monologue proved to be award-worthy. (Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, Aimee Lou Wood, Walton Goggins, and Jason Isaacs also earned nominations for their roles.)

2. How Long Ago Was ‘Presumed Innocent’

Jake Gyllenhaal snagged a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his portrayal of Rusty Sabich in the Apple TV+ series from June 2024. This came as a surprise to many TV enthusiasts, largely because the show aired just a year ago.

3. The Meghann Fahy Recognition

After taking on numerous roles in shows featuring wealthy individuals spending extended periods on isolated islands, the actress finally received her well-deserved nomination. Fahy claimed an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie nomination for her performance as Devon DeWitt in Sirens.

The 2024 Emmy Awards showcased both Hollywood legends and rising stars, but not every noteworthy moment made it to the screen. Eugene Levy and his son, Dan Levy, hosted the 76th annual awards show at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 15, keeping the audience entertained throughout the night.

4. No ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Love

Though the show has enjoyed recognition in previous Emmy ceremonies, Selena Gomez did not receive a nomination for her role as Mabel in the Hulu series this year. Her co-star Steve Martin was also overlooked. While the show did earn an Outstanding Comedy Series nomination, the sole acting nomination went to Martin Short for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

5. ‘The Bear’ Is Still a Comedy

Despite widespread discourse online, there has been no change this year. The Bear maintained its comedy category nominations — it’s worth noting that these nominations are for the 2024 season 3 and not the recently released fourth season.
