3 Jason Statham Action Films to Enjoy If You Liked ‘A Working Man’

The title of Jason Statham’s latest film, A Working Man, aptly reflects his status as the action hero for everyday individuals.

Since his breakthrough role in The Transporter, Statham has consistently appeared in Hollywood, gathering numerous action credits along the way.

The Transporter is often hailed as one of Statham’s greatest works and shares thematic similarities with A Working Man’s narrative against human trafficking. However, like several of his other leading films — such as Crank and Wrath of ManThe Transporter isn’t easily accessible on popular streaming services.

This posed a challenge for What to Watch in compiling a list of three Jason Statham action films to enjoy if you appreciated A Working Man. Nonetheless, these selections promise to satisfy your craving for action.

‘Transporter 3’ (2008)

Transporter 3 may not reach the heights of the original film in its series, but it’s a delight to see Statham reprising his role as Frank Martin once again. Although Frank is largely retired from his life as the premier getaway driver for criminals, he’s drawn back into the game by corrupt executive Jonas Johnson (Prison Break’s Robert Knepper).

To ensure Frank complies, both he and a hostage, Valentina Tomilenko (Natalya Rudakova), are strapped with explosive bracelets that will detonate if they stray too far from the vehicle. However, if Johnson believes this will keep Frank in line, he is about to be very surprised.

Transporter 3 is available for streaming on Tubi.

‘Safe’ (2012)

Safe showcases Statham in a vulnerable light as his character, Luke Wright, grapples with deep despair following the tragic loss of his wife and unborn child. After unwittingly emerging victorious in a fixed MMA fight, the Russian mafia retaliates by eliminating everyone in his life. Left homeless and contemplating suicide, Luke finds himself at a crossroads.

Luke’s opportunity for redemption arises when he witnesses the attempted abduction of Mei (Catherine Chan), a young Chinese girl being exploited by criminals for her exceptional mathematical skills. The Russian mob seeks the vital information she has committed to memory. By keeping Mei safe, Luke hopes to exact vengeance on those who took everything from him.

Safe is accessible for streaming on Prime Video.

‘Wild Card’ (2015)

In Wild Card, Statham portrays a character who is down on his luck. Nick Wild (Statham), burdened by a severe gambling addiction, offers his services as a bodyguard. When he agrees to help his friend Holly (Dominik Garcia-Lorido) confront the man who assaulted her, Danny DeMarco (Milo Ventimiglia), Nick becomes entangled in a dangerous situation.

DeMarco’s connections in the criminal underworld mean that Nick’s actions come with serious repercussions. This haunting reality becomes apparent when he’s guiding a young man, Cyrus Kinnick (Michael Angarano), through the glamorous casinos of Las Vegas.

Wild Card is currently streaming on Prime Video.
