The Valley Producer Hints at Scheana’s Future Following Jax’s Departure

As Jax Taylor steps back from The Valley, Scheana Shay might find a chance to assert herself.

“We’re making our plans for the next season,” The Valley’s executive producer Alex Baskin told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview released on Thursday, July 24. “Scheana is really close with that entire group, and at times, you have to intentionally avoid including that group, or those Vanderpump individuals, because of their ties to this group.”

In the season 2 finale, which aired on Tuesday, July 22, Scheana, 40, and her husband, Brock Davies, were present at the cast party hosted by Michelle Saniei. Baskin reassured viewers that producers “weren’t trying to orchestrate anything” for season 3 with their participation.

Currently, casting choices for the upcoming season seem to be uncertain.

Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay is determined not to let Jax Taylor prevent her and Lala Kent from possibly joining The Valley. In the episode of Scheana’s “Scheananigans” podcast aired on Friday, May 24, she discussed with Janet Caperna and Michelle Lally about Jax’s efforts to gatekeep her from his new Bravo show. “I also saw that for […]

“I mentioned after season 1 that we wouldn’t be adding more main cast members because it became quite crowded, and we wanted everyone the chance to shine,” Baskin elucidated. “We intended to allow Jasmine [Goode] and Zack [Wickham] to take on more involvement and prominence. Now, we’re figuring out our next steps.”

On July 16, Us Weekly confirmed that Jax, 46, is taking a step back from the Bravo spotlight after season 2.

“After an extremely challenging year and many frank discussions with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley,” Jax stated. “At this moment, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and co-parenting. Taking this time is essential for me to become the best version of myself — particularly for our son, Cruz.”

Jax has a 4-year-old son, Cruz, with his ex and co-star Brittany Cartwright, who is anticipated to return for season 3.

Upon Jax’s departure from the show, Scheana commented on the “So Bad It’s Good” podcast that it’s a “smart” and “healthy” choice for her former Vanderpump Rules co-star.

While losing one of the central figures in the show can be tricky, Baskin acknowledged the “large and robust group” of cast members for making a successful show.

“Jax is obviously a key player. We did spend half the season without him, and that stretch was really vibrant and full, so I don’t think we’re [searching] for stories to craft,” Baskin remarked. “I believe it will be different, but different isn’t necessarily negative.”

The Valley airs on Bravo on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET. You can stream previous episodes anytime on Peacock.
