Jessica Alba Discusses Summer Adventures with Kids and a New Chapter Following Cash Warren Divorce
Jessica Alba is sharing her thoughts on motherhood during her divorce from Cash Warren.
The 44-year-old actress revealed more about her summer spent with her children—Honor, 17, Haven, 13, and Hayes, 7—while promoting her new home improvement show, Honest Renovations.
“Summer is our favorite time because they’re in school all year, obviously … It’s when we really get to hunker in with our kids, and I feel like they all always go through growth spurts in the summer,” she shared with Extra during a Monday, August 11 interview. “I’m like, ‘Wait, you are not this shoe size and now you’re in a completely, like, a size and a half up. Like, how is this possible?’ My daughters both raid my closets regularly.”
She added, “They used to tell me, ‘You dress like a mom. I don’t like those clothes,’ and I was like, ‘Whatever,’ but now they’re wearing all my clothes. I’m like, ‘Where is my sweatshirt? Where are my pajamas?’”
Alba mentioned a clever trick she uses to get her kids to return her clothes after they borrow them.
“I put labels on all of my clothes, so they can’t even lie about it anymore,” she noted. “They take my things all the time! It drives me crazy.”
Alba continued, “What bothers me is that they don’t return them. I just wish they would put them back or at least in my hamper instead of theirs, because then I see it on their friend! … And it makes me uncomfortable to tell my kid’s friend to take my sweater off.”
She added that her kids “enjoy hanging out” in her trailer and snacking when they join her on the set of Honest Renovations.
Alba is clearly entering a new chapter after her split from Warren, 46. During the interview, she reflected on her fresh start while placing her children at the forefront of her life.
“I think everyone can relate — you try to plan everything, especially as a mom, you’re always attempting to control things,” she said regarding her journey ahead. “However, as time goes on, you realize that what’s meant for you will eventually come to light.”
Alba offered this advice: “While we try to control and plan everything, there are moments when you have to let life unfold and simply enjoy it, and things will naturally align. Trust the process.”
The L.A.’s Finest star had previously announced her separation from Warren in a January Instagram post.
“I’ve been on a journey of self-realization and transformation for years – both as an individual and in partnership with Cash,” she wrote. “I’m proud of how we’ve evolved together over the last 20 years, and it’s time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth as individuals.”
Alba continued, “We are moving forward with love, kindness, and respect for one another and will always remain a family. Our children are our utmost priority, and we ask for privacy during this time.” (Alba filed for divorce from Warren in February.)
Currently, she is dating Top Gun: Maverick actor Danny Ramirez. The two were first seen out together in July, returning to L.A. after a trip to Cancún, Mexico, and have shared several affectionate outings since.
