Kathy Griffin Reveals Details of Her Third Facelift Surgery

Kathy Griffin is opening up about her recent cosmetic procedures.

During the August 5 episode of her podcast “Talk Your Head Off,” Griffin, 64, revealed that she has undergone her third facelift. “I know this sounds so vain!” she commented. “I’m vain for no good reason. Nobody has ever come to a Kathy Griffin show to see my beautiful, youthful face; they come for my jokes, which I appreciate.”

She credited her Beverly Hills surgeon, Dr. Ben Talei, for the work and mentioned that she also had additional procedures on her chin and around her eyes.

The comedian went on to describe the consultation at Talei’s office as “funny and humiliating.”

Kris Jenner has been singing the praises of the plastic surgeon responsible for her facelift 14 years ago. Dr. Garth Fisher, the Beverly Hills-based surgeon, also handled Kylie Jenner’s breast augmentation and was the one who performed Jenner’s first facelift in 2011. “You sit down and a guy walks in. He didn’t use the Sharpie [on her face] this time, but sometimes they bring one, and he just examines you,” she shared, “And he’s like, ‘Yeah, you have several problem areas, uh-huh, but I can’t fix that. You just have to live with it. However, I can do this, and we can move this around. Who did your last procedure?’”

Griffin joked about how competitive surgeons can be.

According to her, the surgeon “points out your flaws” and reminds you that they are there to “manage expectations.”

“What I like to do is pull my skin as tight as possible with my fingers. They often get nervous and say, ‘No, no, that’s not happening.’ And I respond, ‘Well, come on, give me a good pull. I don’t want to see you back in six months,’” she added.

Griffin is candid about the challenges of being in the public eye, including her appearance. In her 2009 memoir, Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin, she revealed that she nearly died due to complications from cosmetic surgery.

“I was repeatedly told, ‘You would look so pretty if it weren’t for that nose. You’d get more work without that nose. Have you thought of getting a nose job?’” Griffin wrote. “You would think I had a nose the size of Texas. I was young, impressionable, and heard it so often that I began to believe it, leading me to get a nose job.”

While promoting her book on Joy Behar’s former CNN HLN show “The Joy Behar Show” in November 2009, Griffin confessed that she underwent surgery because she wanted to “be Jennifer Aniston.”

When Behar asked Griffin why she felt the need to pursue more surgery after her near-death experience, the actress replied, “Because I am insecure, and I want to improve. Honestly, I’d love to be Jennifer Aniston.”
