Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Daughter Asks to Borrow Iconic SATC Item (Exclusive)
Sarah Michelle Gellar may not have saved all her fashion memorabilia, but her daughter is delighted that one cherished item did make the cut.
In an exclusive conversation with Us Weekly, Gellar, 48, discussed her personal vintage collection while promoting eBay’s ’95 Shop, which launched on Wednesday, September 3.
The actress, who carefully selected items for this curated shop of fashion pieces and collectibles, confessed to Us that narrowing down her choices was challenging, but she was set on including a Fendi baguette bag.
“‘Sex and the City’ meant everything to me,” Gellar shared. “I vividly recall Carrie Bradshaw [portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker] carrying a [Fendi baguette] bag and thinking, ‘I want one.’”
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum clarified, “I recalled thinking, ‘You know what, I’m going to get one.’ I went to Fendi and bought myself a Fendi baguette—it was a significant moment for me, as I carried the same bag as Carrie Bradshaw.”
Following in her mother’s footsteps, 15-year-old Charlotte shares an affinity for the iconic bag. “It’s one of the few items my daughter always wants to take from my closet,” she disclosed to Us, noting her reluctance to keep much from her “’90s stuff,” aside from her treasured baguette.

Gellar, who shares daughter Charlotte and son Rocky, 12, with her husband Freddie Prinze Jr., also mentioned that she and her daughter often have “incredibly” different fashion tastes. “The [’90s] items in my closet are the only things she’s interested in.”
Another item Charlotte wished her mother had kept was chokers, but Gellar let that trend go long ago. “One day she came to me, saying, ‘Mom, I need a choker! You had them in the ’90s!’” Gellar recounted to Us. “I replied, ‘Yes, that was in the ’90s, and I don’t have any chokers left.’”
Gellar also doesn’t plan on bringing back chokers, even if her daughter insists they’re making a comeback. “I feel like they just make your neck look shorter,” she revealed. However, she expressed her delight about the return of slip dresses. “I love slip dresses,” she said, sharing how she styles them with “a T-shirt” and “a sweater.”
“I can’t understand why slip dresses ever went out of fashion,” Gellar commented. “To me, they are the simplest garment to wear, making you feel both stylish and comfortable. So, I’m all in favor of slip dresses.”
