Kody Brown’s Most Controversial Remarks on Special Forces: A Look at His Sexist Comments
Sister Wives star Kody Brown openly acknowledges that his perspectives on gender roles may not garner widespread approval during his time on Special Forces.
After gaining fame from his popular TLC series, Kody expanded his horizons by joining season 4 of Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. This new venture introduces an even broader audience to Kody, who initially showcased his life as a Mormon, and later as a polygamist.
Kody has been spiritually united with his wife Robyn Brown since 2010. At this point, Kody was already wed to Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown. In December 2014, he and Robyn legally married, and he adopted her three children from a previous relationship. (Together, they have two children, Solomon, 13, and Ariella, 9.)
Kody’s first three marriages ended, leaving him only with Robyn. Christine, 53, declared their separation in November 2021, followed by Janelle, 56, who revealed her split from Kody in December 2022. Meri, 54, confirmed her separation from Kody in January 2023.
Despite these personal changes, Kody expressed gratitude for Robyn’s support as he embarked on his Special Forces journey, which has intrigued Us regarding the lengths to which reality stars like Kody are willing to go.
“When they reached out to me about Special Forces, I shared it with my wife, and she said, ‘We need to discuss this.’ A month passed, then another month, and we still hadn’t talked about it,” he recalled in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in September. “[I’m thinking], ‘Are we really not going to talk about it?’ She replied, ‘I know you’re going to do it. There’s no way I can stop you.’”
Kody remarked: “Maybe participating was unwise, but it’s the kind of challenge that you relish. At my age, having a purpose and working towards getting in shape for something like this felt magnificent. It was almost spiritual.”
Post-experience, Robyn expressed her desire to see Kody on screen. “We typically don’t watch each other on TV [but] she’s eager to see me on Special Forces,” he added.
Kody’s drive to test his limits has led to some unexpected insights.
“I will say this, even at the risk of sounding sexist,” he confessed in a September 2025 segment. “I believe men seek respect while women desire love. I may not value being loved as much as I value being respected.”

Pushing Himself Further
“To embrace challenges is to excel as a man,” he stated during the season 4 premiere. “Every now and then, you need to prove your identity.”
Not Limiting His Progress
While navigating the challenges, Kody drew inspiration from his children, expressing, “I want them to see that I can still achieve the impossible. Keep the old man at bay.”
