Seeking Sister Wife’s Garrick Proposes Legal Marriage Between First Wife Dannielle and Third Wife
Seeking Sister Wife’s Garrick Merrifield revealed shocking news to his wives, Dannielle and Lorrana, during the season 6 finale, following his recent arrest.
In the Sunday, November 30 episode of the TLC reality series, Garrick, 40, informed viewers that the “plural” family is on the lookout for a third wife after marrying Brazil-born Lorrana in 2024. (They welcomed their first child together, daughter Sarah Mae, in July.)
Garrick escalated the situation by telling his first wife, Dannielle, that she would need to legally marry the new family member if they choose to add another wife from a different country, referencing Lorrana’s U.S. citizenship status. (Garrick had legally divorced Dannielle in 2020 to marry another woman but they remain together.)
“If God brings another woman from another country into our lives, Dannielle would have to marry her to help her come here,” Garrick said in a confessional interview with his wives present, according to a clip shared by Extra. “We are unsure how long it would take before Lorrana and I could divorce for me to marry another woman.”
Dannielle appeared stunned by Garrick’s announcement, stating, “I wasn’t aware of that.”
“Yes, she can acquire a green card, but it takes five to ten years for her to become a citizen,” Garrick clarified to Dannielle.
Feeling emotional, Dannielle replied, “I think this is a conversation we need to have. I thought it would just take a couple of years for her adjustment of status before we could divorce,” referring to Garrick and Lorrana.
“I didn’t realize it would take so long, and that if we’re adding someone in the next year, it would be my responsibility to marry them from another country,” she added.
Lorrana also voiced her concerns regarding Garrick’s wish to expand their plural marriage.
“I understand we live in a plural family, but right now, I’m not comfortable searching for another wife since this is all very new to me,” Lorrana conveyed using a translation app. “Having a baby and not spending much time with Gar makes me a bit anxious.”
In response, Garrick said, “I completely understand your position and your feelings. But we are a plural family, and I believe it’s a divine calling, so we must remain open to what God has planned. Whether that’s tomorrow or in three months, I’m not certain, but I trust that He is in control, and we should continue seeking.”
“So for now, we just have to keep our hearts and minds open to God’s plans,” he concluded.
Garrick’s intention to find a third wife during the season 6 finale comes on the heels of his November 24 arrest on misdemeanor domestic violence and obstructing telephone service charges, according to the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado, as reported by People last week.
As reported by TMZ, Lorrana contacted the authorities after Garrick allegedly threatened to involve U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during an altercation. Lorrana told officers that Garrick took her phone from her, preventing her from reaching out to her family in Brazil, according to a police affidavit for an arrest warrant.
Garrick was released on bail after the arrest and has not publicly commented on the charges against him.
Neither Garrick nor the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to Us Weekly’s requests for comments last week.
