Emma Hernan Teases Possible Exit from Selling Sunset Following Chrishell Stause’s Departure
Chrishell Stause may not be the only cast member considering leaving Selling Sunset ahead of season 10, as Emma Hernan drops hints about a potential exit.
On the Monday, December 1, episode of the “Untraditionally Lala” podcast, Emma, 33, discussed her future on the popular Netflix show.
“I was pretty much done [after] season 8, but I returned to share my perspective,” she told Lala Kent when asked about her upcoming plans for season 10. “I mean, I’m kind of … I’m tapped [out].”
Emma also mentioned that she didn’t wish to make any formal announcement just yet.
“I’ll never say never. I dislike when people claim they won’t return to the show, only to come back. I’ve heard that countless times where individuals state, ‘I’m never coming back,’ and, lo and behold, they’re back each season,” she noted. “Many have done and said this — I’m not naming any names.”
She added: “I’ve never actually said it, but I’m at a point where I’m really content with my life. I cherish my family and have been focusing on spending quality time with them. I’ve been on the East Coast a lot this year, and it’s been quite wonderful for me.”
Emma’s potential exit follows Chrishell, 44, confirming she wouldn’t be returning.
“I’ve reached a stage where I no longer need the show financially,” Chrishell shared in a November interview with Bustle. “I’m fortunate to have other opportunities, as it’s not beneficial for my mental health.”
The reality star mentioned she was unsure whether the show would continue for more seasons.
“If they decide to move forward, I wish them all the best. If another season does happen, I may not even watch it. I don’t know. But I hold no resentment towards the show,” she expressed. “The show provided me with numerous opportunities, and I don’t want to feel bitter about it, despite leaving not as I would have preferred.”
Chrishell continued: “After investing so many hours, I found myself thinking, ‘Just get through this. You’re not a quitter, but you don’t have to do this again.’”
Before her departure, Chrishell and Emma had a fallout due to Emma’s controversial relationship with Blake Davies.
“I felt I was in a good place with everyone — I was happy and confident regarding the real estate side,” Chrishell commented to Variety in October. “This tends to happen with this show. When you believe a season will be straightforward, those are often the most challenging.”
Chrishell expressed that she had no regrets about her journey on Selling Sunset.
“I enjoyed this season. I wouldn’t say it was hard for me. It’s just how everything built up during the reunion and how it all unfolded,” she explained. “It’s interesting that I entered the season thinking it would be easy. Never speak those famous last words.”
Chrishell also hinted that she had no intention of returning.
“The reunion was quite intense. At that moment, I realized I would be finished here moving forward. I wish everyone well, but this isn’t the right place for me. It felt a bit like a dog pile,” she remarked. “I have no idea when filming will commence. I hope they never inform me.”
Selling Sunset is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
