Ariana Grande Models Carol Burnett’s Iconic 1973 Dress for SNL Promotion

The 32-year-old Grande dazzled in a vintage Bob Mackie dress reminiscent of past glam while promoting Saturday Night Live, which she will host on Saturday, December 20. In a social media clip shared on Thursday, December 18, she wowed in a chevron-striped dress featuring vibrant yellow, orange, and brown hues. The gown, with a crisscross halter neck, fitted bodice, and flowing skirt, was once worn by the iconic Carol Burnett.

Grande complemented her look with a matching shawl, accessorizing further with a gold ring, diamond stud earrings, and a chic French manicure.

Her makeup was just as impeccable, showcasing a radiant foundation, bronzed, rosy cheeks, and eye makeup that included a tan shadow expertly blended at the outer corners, a light shade on her lids, winged eyeliner, and voluminous lashes. She finished her look with a contoured button nose and glossy lips, while her brunette locks were styled in her signature side-parted updo.

On Instagram, Grande shared images of her stunning ensemble, along with a throwback photo of Burnett in 1973, sporting the same outfit during The Carol Burnett Show. In that era, Burnett styled the dress with gold statement earrings, her auburn bob worn down with bangs beautifully framed over her forehead.

“♡ 🌼,” was the simple caption Grande chose for her post, prompting a flurry of compliments from friends and fans alike.

Her friend and former Victorious co-star Liz Gillies chimed in with a “Yes,” while Daniella Monet added, “Okaaaay ☀️🌻✨,” and Rachel Zegler echoed enthusiasm saying, “Yup yup yup yup yup.”

Last month, Grande also donned another vintage gown at the Wicked: For Good premiere in London, showcasing a black Adrian dress from 1952. This dress showcased a sheer neckline revealing thin straps under a delicate tulle overlay, completed with a tiered pleated skirt adorned with white floral accents. The look was further enhanced with chic platform Christian Louboutin heels.

As she hosts Saturday Night Live alongside Cher, who will serve as the musical guest, it’s worth noting that Grande previously hosted the show back in October 2024.
