Sherri Shepherd Opens Up About Her Talk Show Wrap-Up After Four Seasons

Sherri Shepherd has expressed her feelings following the cancellation of her daytime talk show after four seasons.

“I am truly overwhelmed by the incredible support for me and The @sherrishowtv,” Shepherd, 58, shared on Instagram on Tuesday, February 3. “You may have noticed that I was feeling a bit off recently. Unfortunately, I’ve tested positive for Covid. Once I’m on the mend and back on air, I’ll address all the recent news. In the meantime, I’m so thankful that SHERRI has resonated with so many! See you soon❤️ #sherrishepherd #sherrishowtv #grateful #itsnotover.”

The news of the show’s cancellation was announced by Lionsgate-owned Debmar-Mercury on Monday, February 2, stating that Sherri would conclude later this year.

“This decision reflects the changing landscape of daytime television and does not diminish the quality of the show or Sherri’s exceptional talent,” said Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus in a statement to Us Weekly. “We have faith in this show and Sherri and will look into opportunities for it on other platforms.”

The fourth season of Sherri, set to air through the 2025-2026 TV season on networks including Fox TV Stations, Nexstar, Hearst, Sinclair, Gray, Tegna, and Sunbeam, will still proceed as planned, concluding in the fall.

Reactions to the cancellation announcement were mixed, with fans expressing disappointment over why Shepherd wasn’t given the chance to announce the show’s ending personally.

“Sherri deserved the courtesy of announcing her show’s end herself, just like Kelly [Clarkson] did,” shared The Real cohost Loni Love via X on February 3. “This isn’t like The Real, which had a panel; this was a solo-hosted show. The production could have made a joint announcement with her. Seeing ‘cancelled’ plastered across your image is disheartening, especially when the show was performing well. Here’s to moving onward and upward, @sherrieshepherd.”

The Office star Kate Flannery echoed Love’s sentiments, sharing her perspective on Instagram.

“So sorry to hear this. I adore Sherri and her staff,” Flannery, 61, commented on Tuesday. “She is an outstanding host. It’s disgraceful that she wasn’t allowed to make the announcement herself; a little dignity and respect goes a long way ❤️.”

This isn’t the first time Shepherd has made her mark in daytime TV.

The comedian was previously a cohost on The View from 2007 to 2014, choosing to leave the ABC talk show to explore other opportunities, including a sitcom and a Broadway role.
