Celebrities Who Volunteered for DWTS: Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Others
These stars are geared up to hit the dance floor.
Dancing With the Stars has experienced a resurgence in popularity lately, with the season 34 finale in November 2025 achieving the show’s highest ratings in ten years, as reported by Deadline. Given this, it’s no surprise that numerous celebrities are eager to step onto the ballroom stage.
Marvel star Simu Liu shared with Entertainment Weekly that he often considers competing on the show. “I think about it at least once a week. I don’t follow them on Instagram, but I love dance, and I love watching people dance, and I love dancing,” he explained in November 2025. “I feel like I’ve strangely kept up with [season 34], watching Dylan Efron and Robert Irwin, and all that. Trust me, I think about it regularly. If I can set aside that time in the future, I’d be all in.”
Liu isn’t the only celebrity keen on participating. Keep reading to discover other stars who have expressed interest in DWTS:
Tay Lautner
Taylor Lautner’s wife, Tay Lautner, has frequently expressed her desire to join DWTS. In a January 2024 episode of their podcast, “The Squeeze,” Tay mentioned it would “be really fun” to be cast, while Taylor noted that it’s his wife’s “dream” to participate.
Brooklyn and Bailey McKnight
Influencer twins Brooklyn and Bailey McKnight have campaigned for a spot on the show for years. They’ve contacted the casting team numerous times and made public pleas on their social media in hopes of getting cast, but to no avail. Nevertheless, in October 2025, the twins attended their first live DWTS taping.
“The last two times we’ve applied, they said they didn’t want to cast twins because they didn’t want to split the votes,” Bailey explained in an Instagram video before the taping. “We even tried to convince them to have an iconic duos season. Our response to that was, ‘Then choose one of us.’ At this point, it’s been such a lifelong dream. I don’t care if it’s Brooklyn or me.”
Taylor Frankie Paul
Star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Taylor Frankie Paul, expressed her interest in joining after her costars Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt competed in season 34.
“When DWTS asked about my dance experience? Umm … no, but I am the creator of the Baja Blast,” Paul captioned a TikTok video of herself dancing in July 2025. “I’ll be available if you need contestants next season.”
Jennifer Love Hewitt
Jennifer Love Hewitt mentioned in 2019 that she is “ready” to join Dancing With the Stars and conveyed her admiration for the show.
“Oh my gosh, I’d probably faint,” she humorously stated in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
While Hewitt noted she would be “way too nervous” initially, she assured fans she would respond to the casting call “the moment they ask.”
Christy Carlson Romano
Disney alum Christy Carlson Romano has been a favorite among fans for Dancing With the Stars. The Even Stevens star shared on the “Big Name Bitches” podcast in September 2023 that she tried twice to get onto the show, but was allegedly “waitlisted” each time.
In one instance, Romano mentioned, “I had just had a baby, and I was like, ‘Guys, I’m gonna get my [pre] baby body back.’ They do Disney nights; I thought, ‘We could have a Kim Possible night where I’m dancing.’”
Romano claimed that the casting department informed her they would “call her,” but they never followed through.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard
After Gypsy Rose Blanchard shared a video of herself dancing on Instagram in February 2026, fans encouraged the My Time to Stand author to consider joining a future season of Dancing With the Stars.
“Well, if they had Anna Delvey on it, I’m sure they could have me lol,” Gypsy, who spent just over eight years in prison for her involvement in the 2015 murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, replied to a fan’s comment. (Delvey competed on DWTS season 33 wearing a bedazzled ankle monitor after being released to home confinement in 2022.)
