Jenelle Evans Offers Clarification on Her Relationship with David Eason
Teen Mom star Jenelle Evans is addressing her relationship with ex David Eason following their recent sighting together.
“David has visited Ensley [their daughter] in Vegas recently, but he’s now back in North Carolina,” Evans, 34, told Us Weekly exclusively on Saturday, March 7. “I’m in a good place in my life, and my kids are too. I’m pleased to demonstrate a healthy coparenting dynamic to them.”
Evans added, “I always aim to maintain a good relationship with my exes for the sake of my children.”
The MTV star and Eason, 37, welcomed their daughter in January 2018, just nine months before they tied the knot. Evans also has son Jace, born in 2009, with ex Andrew Lewis, and son Kaiser, born in 2013, with ex Nathan Griffith.
(Jenelle entrusted custody of her son Jace to her mother, Barbara Evans, shortly after his birth—she was just 17—but regained custody in March 2023 after a lengthy 13-year struggle.)
Eason is the father to daughter Maryssa, born in 2007, with ex Whitney Johnson, and son Kaden, born in 2013, with ex Olivia Leedham.
The couple has faced significant challenges in their relationship. The Teen Mom 2 alum started dating Eason in 2015, marrying in September 2017 after two years. They separated two years later, with Evans considering divorce after Eason admitted to killing the family dog and she temporarily lost custody of Kaiser and Ensley.
“We were on bad terms for nearly a week,” Evans shared with her followers during a July 2019 Instagram Q&A. “He knows how upset it made me … David has since completed anger management as well.”
The couple reconciled in March 2020, deciding to give their marriage another chance despite their issues.
“I left him, thinking this won’t be good when I get back to him,” Evans told Us exclusively in March 2021. “Some might not understand, but there are far worse things in my life than reconciling with my husband and trying to make it work,”
Almost three years later, Evans filed for separation in February 2024, and their divorce was finalized in July 2025.
“Now I can breathe,” Evans expressed on Instagram at that time. “We went through our assets and reached a settlement; ladies, please ensure everything is in your own name. The battle is over! #LessonLearned #Divorced.”
The duo has been focusing on their coparenting arrangement, meeting up in Las Vegas earlier this year.
“I had to inform him that Ensley was hospitalized due to an emergency, as per custody agreements,” Evans shared exclusively with Us on January 21, following their daughter’s brief health scare. “Everything went smoothly, and I’m content that we can effectively coparent during such a frightening time.”
The ex-couple even managed to share a meal together at The Cheesecake Factory.
“Did we go out to eat? Yes, we did,” said Evans, “because Ensley hasn’t seen David in two years.”
