Haylie Duff and Matthew Rosenberg End Engagement and Separate

Haylie Duff and her fiancé Matthew Rosenberg have parted ways after 14 years of being together.

A representative for Duff confirmed to TMZ on Monday, April 20, that the Napoleon Dynamite star, 41, and Rosenberg ended their relationship earlier this year. Duff has requested privacy during this time to safeguard her daughters. (The couple shares two daughters, Ryan, 10, and Lulu, 7.)

Us Weekly has reached out for a statement from Duff.

Duff and Rosenberg began their relationship in 2012 and got engaged in 2014.

“This week has truly turned into the best week of my life!” she wrote on her Real Girl’s Kitchen blog. “As if announcing The Real Girl’s Kitchen TV show wasn’t enough, Matt completely surprised me and proposed … on April Fool’s Day of all days! The moment was heartfelt and sweet (just like him!), and I couldn’t wait to say yes!”

Duff added, “We are incredibly excited to share our wonderful news with everyone! We feel so blessed to have the love and support of our family and friends, and we can’t wait to embark on this new adventure!”

Almost a decade after their engagement, Duff opened up exclusively to Us about why they weren’t rushing into marriage.

“We are busy with the kids and our careers, and we always say, ‘We will get to it eventually,’ but then life just keeps moving, and we still genuinely enjoy each other’s company, which is great, I suppose,” she told Us in April 2020. “At some point we will tie the knot, but now isn’t the right time for a wedding.”

The news of Haylie and Rosenberg’s split comes just months after her sister, Hilary Duff, confirmed that they had a falling out. (Hilary revealed that her estrangement from Haylie inspired her song “We Don’t Talk.”)

“The loneliest part of my existence is not having my sister in my life right now,” Hilary expressed on CBS Mornings in February 2026. “It’s my truth, and so many others are experiencing this as well. It’s challenging because I am who I am, and people are familiar with my life since I was a child. I didn’t necessarily choose that aspect, but it’s my reality. Honestly, it was healing to express that.”

In the following month, Hilary mentioned that she received an outpouring of support after publicly discussing her and Haylie’s strained relationship.

“My sister and I aren’t in contact. As I’ve grown older, I’ve met more people who share similar experiences,” Hilary remarked during a March episode of the “On Purpose With Jay Shetty” podcast. “Although it’s painful to share, when I decided to create this record, I could only talk about my own experiences.”

Haylie has not publicly commented on her estrangement from Hilary.
