Relationship Timeline of Golfer Collin Morikawa and Katherine Zhu
They discovered a path to bliss! Professional golfer Collin Morikawa enjoys a unique support system with his wife, Katherine Zhu.
“She’s been incredible. I’m so fortunate to have her,” Morikawa expressed during an August 2020 interview with the Golf Channel’s “Golf Central” show. “Kat has stood by me through everything. She’d probably be upset if I didn’t mention this, but I didn’t start winning in college until she entered my life.”
The PGA Tour champion and Zhu, who played collegiate golf at Pepperdine University, were introduced by a mutual friend in 2017, nearly two years before Morikawa turned pro.
“[One of my competitors and I] were just being college girls and chatting about life [during a summer tournament]. She asked, ‘Are you dating anyone? Let me introduce you to someone,’” Zhu recounted to the New York Post in September 2020. “I replied, ‘Sure,’ but didn’t really think she would follow through.”
True to her word, the couple’s friend—who played golf with Morikawa at the University of California, Berkeley—showed him pictures from Zhu’s Instagram to spark his interest. Their romance blossomed as they completed their college degrees. After three years of dating, the Olympian proposed to Zhu in November 2021, and they tied the knot the following year.
