Heated Rivalry’s Dylan Walsh Faces ‘Trouble’ in Season 2 Leak
Heated Rivalry star Dylan Walsh has addressed the situation after inadvertently revealing details about future episodes.
“I was speaking candidly during a Cameo and shouldn’t have speculated on the production timeline or episode numbers,” Walsh, 62, shared in a statement to Variety on Thursday, August 13.
The actor, known for his role as David Hollander in the popular series inspired by Rachel Reid’s novels, mentioned that he got “in trouble” for oversharing in a recent Cameo video.
“I don’t have any official news to share, and I apologize for any confusion I caused for the production team and the fans,” the former star of Nip/Tuck stated. “I have paused my Cameo account for the time being. I’m truly thankful for the excitement surrounding Heated Rivalry and feel proud to be part of the series.”
In Walsh’s now-famous Cameo video, he mentioned he was “getting ready to head back to Canada to shoot more episodes.”
“I think we’re doing 12 this time,” he remarked in the video, which has spread across X.
This comment led some fans to speculate whether the cast might be filming two seasons or if season 2 could be split into halves, as creator Jacob Tierney previously indicated he preferred not to exceed six episodes per season.
“I don’t need to do 10 [episodes in a season],” Tierney, 46, told the Los Angeles Times in February. “I always favor tightening the storyline rather than stretching it out. I’d prefer to see how much narrative we can fit into these episodes.”
Fans familiar with the show might find Walsh’s slip-up amusing, especially since a celebrity video app features in Reid’s sequel The Long Game. The storyline follows fictional hockey players Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) who transition from rivals to lovers.
“Long Game is … so lengthy and game-like, akin to eating venison,” Tierney humorously noted during an April event at BookCon 2026 in New York City, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. “It’s genuinely a different experience … and from an adaptation perspective, it ventures into much more serious themes. There’s still plenty of flirting and intimacy, but the nature of the danger changes. Elements like ‘hotel room, adolescent intimacy’ are largely absent.”
Heated Rivalry season 2 is anticipated to premiere in spring 2027 on Crave in Canada and HBO Max in the United States and globally.
