Gypsy Rose Blanchard Reveals Her Postpartum Body
Gypsy Rose Blanchard recently provided an update on her journey as a new mother.
On Friday, January 3, just a week after giving birth to her daughter, Blanchard, 33, shared a photo showcasing her postpartum body on her Instagram Story.
“Almost a week postpartum,” she captioned the post. “Feeling more energized.”
Blanchard and her partner, Ken Urker, welcomed their baby girl, named Aurora, on Saturday, December 28. Following the birth, Urker announced the exciting news through Instagram on Wednesday, January 1.
“Welcoming 2025 with the greatest gift of all 👼,” Urker posted along with a hospital photo of himself, Blanchard, and their newborn.
The birth occurred in Blanchard’s home state of Louisiana. “Aurora is healthy and we are so happy,” Urker informed TMZ.
One year before her daughter’s birth, Blanchard was freed after nearly nine years in prison. She pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2016 for the death of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.
Nicholas Godejohn, Gypsy’s boyfriend at the time, was also involved in the conspiracy to kill Dee Dee; Godejohn ended up stabbing her. He pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and received a life sentence.
Dee Dee is widely thought to have suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a condition defined by the Cleveland Clinic as “a mental health disorder where the caregiver falsely presents another person as ill.” Throughout her childhood, Gypsy was led to believe she had various conditions such as leukemia, muscular dystrophy, and brain damage, and was falsely told she needed a feeding tube and a wheelchair.
The documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest (2017) and the Hulu limited series The Act (2019), featuring Joey King as Gypsy, dramatized this troubling story.
Gypsy and Urker got engaged in 2018 while she was still incarcerated. The couple split in 2019, and Gypsy later married Ryan Anderson in July 2022 while still in prison, in a small ceremony with no guests.
Shortly after her release in December 2023, Gypsy revealed her split from Anderson and filed for divorce in March 2024.
Four months later, she confirmed rumors of her pregnancy with Urker.
“I know the rumors have been flying around for some time, and I’m excited to share that I am 11 weeks pregnant,” she announced in a YouTube video in July 2024. “Ken and I are expecting our first child in January 2025.”
