Jennifer Lopez Opens Up About Her Emotions as an Empty Nester

Jennifer Lopez has embarked on a new chapter of motherhood.

In a video shared on Saturday, September 26, on her JLO Beauty skincare brand’s Instagram page, Lopez, 57, said, “Good morning, everybody. This is a beautiful day, a beautiful morning.”

“I was just about to begin my skincare routine and was reflecting on routines because I know many people are experiencing this too. My kids are heading off to college,” she said, referring to her 18-year-old twins, Max and Emme, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony.

Lopez spoke about reminiscing over her summer with her children, emphasizing that she “spent as much time with them” as possible before they departed for college. Although the “On the Floor” singer has not disclosed their college choices, she previously mentioned that both twins were accepted into all five universities they applied to and received scholarship offers.

Jennifer Lopez is opening up about her emotional response to her twins, Max and Emme, graduating from high school. “Tomorrow, one of them graduates. Don’t talk about it because we start crying. I’ve been crying for two months,” the Office Romance star revealed during the Wednesday, May 27 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Lopez, 56, shared […]

“We had to travel together [before school began] … The travel was hectic, and it takes a toll on your skin and body, but those routines really help you get through,” she explained. “As I become an empty nester and find myself crying while looking at baby pictures and reflecting on them, these routines will help keep me somewhat grounded.”

Lopez shared her intention to concentrate on “working out, following my skincare routine [and] taking care of myself with the new space in my life.”

Speaking to mothers who might share her feelings, the Atlas star remarked, “You’re thrilled for them as they enter this new phase of life. But we must also remember it’s a new phase for us too.”

Lopez urged other moms to use this opportunity to “revive some old dreams” or revisit “things you set aside while raising your kids.”

“Even if it’s just reading books or engaging in small activities, you can establish new rituals and routines to occupy the space when they’re not just down the hall anymore,” she suggested. “It’s a daunting time. It’s a transition period. It’s a fresh start in many respects for them, and for you as well. So, don’t overlook that.”

Lopez concluded, “Maintain your routines. Stay hydrated. Stay joyful. Stay productive. That’s our mantra at JLO Beauty. Remember, true beauty radiates from within.”
