Christina Haack Asserts That Ex Josh Hall Was Uncomfortable with Her Having Tarek’s Name
As her marriage concluded on HGTV’s The Flip Off, Christina Haack shared how Josh Hall felt uneasy about her friendly rapport with ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, both by name and in reality.
On the premiere of The Flip Off, which aired on Wednesday, January 29, Christina (41) and Josh (44) filmed an episode prior to their offscreen breakup. The camera captured some awkward moments between the couple, particularly regarding Christina’s connection to Tarek (43).
“This is a competition, and we must give it our all. We will do whatever it takes to win! Halls rule,” Josh remarked to Christina, who didn’t seem to reciprocate his excitement. “You are supposed to echo that or show some agreement.”
Josh reminded Christina that she’s “a Hall now,” adding, “Don’t let yourself get confused about your last name during this competition.”

In a confessional, Christina clarified Josh’s remarks. “When I started dating Josh, I was still known as Christina El Moussa everywhere,” she noted, having been married to Tarek from 2009 to 2018. “Josh took issue with that and was keen on me embracing the Hall surname.”
The strain between them escalated as Josh sought to engage Christina in conversation. “I tell stories, and you always seem to zone out,” he remarked. Christina retorted, “That’s not a story; you’re trying to school me on something I find uninteresting.”
Josh termed Christina “rude,” while she insisted she simply wasn’t as expressive as he clearly preferred. “You talk so much that sometimes I just think, ‘I wish he’d stop,’” she challenged him. “We’ve been together long enough — years — and you still don’t understand me? It’s going to be a tough ride. My wife is driving me crazy right now.”
Christina acknowledged that Josh had been “a bit moody” recently.
“Josh knows about my past with Tarek,” she shared with the cameras. “I suspect that the pressure of the competition is affecting him.”
After her breakup with Tarek, with whom she has daughter Taylor (14) and son Brayden (9), Christina found love with Ant Anstead. They tied the knot in 2018 and welcomed son Hudson a year later, but their marriage ended in 2020, with the divorce finalized the following year.
Christina began dating Josh but filed for divorce in July 2024. Recently, she discussed her quest for true love after rumors surfaced about her relationship with businessman Christopher LaRocca.
“I will always cherish love. I might [marry again] at some point, but not in the immediate future,” she told Us Weekly in a cover story, adding that she would need to be engaged for at least five years before marrying for the fourth time.
Tarek El Moussa and Christina Hall may have parted ways, but they continue to work as a team for their family. After their split in December 2016, following seven years of marriage, the duo collaborated on HGTV’s Flip or Flop. Despite their divorce, they successfully co-parent their two children: daughter Taylor and son Brayden.
Christina subsequently celebrated reclaiming her last name, Haack. “I’m choosing to identify as having been married twice. Time to update the Wikipedia page,” she quipped on her Instagram Story.
Josh is currently dating Stephanie Gabrys amid his ongoing divorce proceedings with Christina. With Josh’s exit from The Flip Off, Christina is now set to compete against Tarek and his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, for the remainder of the season.
“It’s far simpler to film with someone when you don’t have to return home to them,” Christina told Us earlier this month. “Generally, it’s a bad idea to film with your spouse.”
