Matt and Makensy from Big Brother Respond to Tucker and Rubina’s Relationship
Big Brother’s Matt Hardeman and Makensy Manbeck are excited to share the love.
Just under four months after the conclusion of CBS’ popular reality series, two former contestants who are now a couple are celebrating the romance between fellow houseguests Tucker Des Lauriers and Rubina Bernabe.
“I believe they are a perfect match,” Makensy exclusively shared with Us Weekly. “They are truly wonderful individuals and complement each other seamlessly. Rubina is fantastic, and like us, they found their partner on Big Brother. I wish them all the best.”
Following a strong bond formed in the Big Brother house last summer, Tucker and Rubina expressed their desire to deepen their friendship after the show concluded.
Once the season finale aired in October 2024, the former contestants discovered that the chemistry between them remained strong, leading to a long-distance relationship.
“Long-distance is tricky for us, being from Texas to Atlanta—I can only imagine how challenging it must be to manage coast-to-coast from New York to California,” Makensy remarked. “I truly hope they’re doing well as they navigate that, because it’s tough. That would be a challenge for me.”
Makensy informed Us that she plans to relocate from Texas to Atlanta to be nearer to her boyfriend. She noted, “It’s time for me to embrace some change, and I want to be close to him.”
From Matt’s perspective, he will always support couples falling in love publicly.
When Matt was evicted from the Big Brother house on Day 10, he was uncertain if Makensy would be interested in him after the season.
After nearly 80 days of silence, they reconnected and decided to explore a romantic relationship, which they kept private until going Instagram Official in December 2024.
“I feel like we were able to handle some aspects of our relationship privately,” Matt explained. “[Tucker and Rubina] had an obvious showmance from the onset, and I respect them. Managing that relationship is no easy task, especially with distance.”
While Matt—who is set to launch his “Figuring It Out” podcast in March—mentioned he didn’t get to spend much time with Rubina after the show, he did connect with Tucker, as they were both evicted before the jury stage.
“He’s a quality guy,” Matt praised. “He’s the real deal, with a strong community in New York, and I wish them nothing but the best. I’m rooting for them in whatever lies ahead.”
