Key Moments in Athena and Bobby’s Romance on 9-1-1: A Timeline
Athena Grant and Bobby Nash enthralled viewers on 9-1-1 as they portrayed a courageous police officer and firefighter, respectively, but it was their second chance romance that truly resonated with fans.
The show premiered in 2018, introducing audiences to LAPD officer Athena (Angela Bassett) and fire captain Bobby (Peter Krause), whose paths crossed repeatedly as first responders. It wasn’t until halfway through season 1 that their relationship turned romantic, and they never looked back.
Athena and Bobby not only protected their teams and the residents of Los Angeles but were also there to rescue each other from peril. However, tragedy hit during season 8 when Bobby was infected with a lethal virus, endangering firefighter Chimney (Kenneth Choi).
Athena stepped in heroically, securing the sole vaccine for the virus, but Bobby chose to wait until Chimney was saved to reveal his own dire condition. Athena remained by his side until the very end, moving fans to tears as they mourned alongside her.

Meeting Her Kids

In season 3, episode 17, Bobby listens helplessly as Athena is attacked by a serial killer she has been pursuing. When the 118 arrives, Bobby runs through the facility to rescue her, escorting her to the hospital.
A Bump in the Road
Athena confronts Bobby in season 4, episode 13, over his decision to sponsor a woman responsible for a DUI crash. The heated exchange reveals deeper issues as they discuss communication in their marriage.
His Hero
In a two-part episode, LAPD and LAFD respond to a sniper threatening firefighters. During season 4, episode 14, Bobby gets trapped with the shooter, prompting Athena to don firefighter gear to rescue him from a burning building.
