Spencer Pratt Explains His Absence from Brody Jenner’s Wedding

Spencer Pratt had a valid excuse for missing his friend Brody Jenner’s wedding.

When a fan inquired about his absence from Jenner’s wedding on Saturday, July 12, the reality TV star revealed that he was attending another family event — his sister-in-law’s wedding.

“At Heidi’s sister’s wedding,” Pratt shared via TikTok on Saturday, alongside a picture of the proud dad with his sons, Gunner and Ryker. “Holly had her wedding [at the] same time.”

Spencer and his wife, Heidi Pratt, gained fame on the popular reality show The Hills, which showcased their tumultuous love story, among other aspects. Jenner, who wed professional surfer Tia Blanco over the weekend, also featured in the show.

The newlyweds paid tribute to Jenner’s reality TV history during their wedding reception.

“Everyone, put your hands together,” a DJ announced at the celebration, as shared by Jenner’s mother, Linda Thompson, via her Instagram Stories. “For the first time, give it up for the Jenners.”

In the video, Jenner and his wife were seen hand-in-hand as they approached their guests. Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten” played in the background. (For those unfamiliar, the show famously opened with a version of “Unwritten.”)

“The Hills has a whole generation of fans who were captivated by that show. It holds great significance for many, and I cherish being able to celebrate and honor that,” Bedingfield, 43, told Variety in 2019. “I believe a song is akin to a person — it evolves into a life of its own, especially something like ‘Unwritten.’ Once it becomes a hit, it isn’t solely yours anymore. It takes on various forms and meanings to others.”

In June, the best friends reminisced about their days on The Hills online.

“What’s worse, rewatching the show or a toddler kick to the groin?” Spencer asked his longtime friend via Instagram, commenting under a mirror selfie of Brody wearing FridaBalls underwear.

“The only thing worse than a toddler kick to the groin is rewatching season 3,” Jenner replied.

Although Brody and Spencer have remained close, the newlywed has drifted from many of his former The Hills co-stars.

“Once I had a family, my No. 1 priority became being there for my family and my daughter,” Brody mentioned to E! News back in January, referring to the child he shares with his now-wife. “So I don’t get to connect with very many people outside of my family.”

He continued, “Lauren, I haven’t spoken to in 10 years, not a word.”
