A Look Back at Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala Style Evolution: Photos Through the Years
Kim Kardashian has captured the public’s interest on not just one, but 11 Met Gala red carpets (and counting).
The Kardashians star made her first appearance on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City during the 2013 gala, attending as the guest of her then-husband, Kanye West, who was performing at the event. At that time, Kardashian was also expecting their first child, daughter North. (The former couple, who were married from 2014 to 2022, share daughter Chicago and sons Saint and Psalm.)
In 2015, the reality star embodied her inner Cher, dazzling in a Roberto Cavalli creation. The designer crafted a stunning white gown featuring sheer crystal embroidery and feather accents, complete with an extended train.
As Kardashian became a staple at the New York City gala, she opted for more daring — and at times controversial — outfits. In 2022, she faced criticism after borrowing Marilyn Monroe’s iconic Jean Louis gown for the event. The historical dress, worn by the legendary actress when she serenaded President John F. Kennedy with “Happy Birthday” in 1962, was lent to Kardashian by Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for the occasion. To fit into the dress, the reality star undertook a rigorous diet, shedding 16 pounds in just three weeks.
After the event, Kardashian faced allegations of damaging the gown upon its return to the museum. However, both she and Ripley denied the claims that the dress sustained any new rips or tears.
