A Retrospective on David Harbour and Lily Allen’s Relationship Journey
David Harbour and Lily Allen have journeyed far since their initial encounter on a dating app.
The couple first generated romance rumors in August 2019 when they attended a play in London together. Just two months later, they made their red carpet debut at a Skin Cancer Foundation event.
Allen and Harbour exchanged vows in Las Vegas, motivated by a comment from Allen’s daughters, Ethel and Marnie, whom she shares with ex-husband Sam Cooper.
“We were biking around at the start of the [coronavirus] pandemic — she has two wonderful daughters, aged 8 and 9 — and we were out in the countryside trying to figure out what we’d do for the coming year or however long it might take,” the Stranger Things star recounted during a June 2021 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. “The younger one was riding along and saying, ‘David, Dad, David, Dad.’ Because the ‘d’ sound confused her. The older one got quite upset, which I understand, and she exclaimed, ‘He’s not our dad! He’s not our dad!’”
He continued: “The younger one then asked, ‘What is he? He’s kind of our dad.’ The older one replied, ‘No, he’s not.’ ‘He’s sort of our stepdad.’ ‘No, he’s not,’ and then the younger one asked, ‘What is he?’ to which the older one responded, ‘He’s just some guy in our lives!’ … And I thought, ‘I need to marry this woman.’”
