A Timeline of Billy Ray Cyrus and Elizabeth Hurley’s Relationship
Love blossomed for Billy Ray Cyrus and Elizabeth Hurley nearly four years after they appeared together in 2022’s Christmas in Paradise.
“We filmed together in the Caribbean two years ago, and although we shared few scenes, I felt a chemistry during the moments we were together,” Cyrus shared on Apple Music’s Ty Bentli Show in April 2025. “We laughed a lot, which was surprising to me since I wasn’t laughing much at that time.”
He continued, “As time went on, I reflected on the challenges I faced and thought, ‘Wow, can life get any harder?’ At one point, I realized that you can’t get knocked down any flatter than lying on your back while life is hitting you hard.”
While dealing with a divorce from Firerose, Hurley reached out to Cyrus. The couple confirmed their relationship in April 2025, sharing a romantic photo on Instagram on Easter Sunday.
“Billy Ray and Liz have undergone many challenges in life, and their shared experiences have brought them closer,” an insider told Us Weekly in a cover story that month. “Liz is incredibly compassionate, which is something Billy Ray truly appreciates.”

Hurley and Cyrus portrayed Joanna Christmas and Jimmy Love in Netflix’s Christmas in Paradise.
“Working with Billy Ray was a dream come true — I’ve been a fan for a long time. My son used to watch Hannah Montana often, which is how I got to know him,” Hurley mentioned in an interview with MovieWeb, referring to her son Damian, whom she shares with her late ex, Stephen Bing. “I was familiar with his music too, which was a bonus.”

Two years after the film’s release, Hurley sent Cyrus a supportive text.
“I wasn’t even sure of the number, but I wrote, ‘Hey, it seems like life might be tough right now, and I just wanted you to know I’m here for you,’” Cyrus recalled on Bentli’s show, praising Hurley as a “wonderful person” with an “impressive intellect.”
April 2025
Prior to their Instagram debut as a couple on Easter, Hurley and Cyrus kept their relationship private.
“Her friends knew about it for some time since it wasn’t new. Liz had asked them to keep it a secret within her close-knit circle, mostly comprising gay friends,” a second source shared with Us.
Later in April, Hurley posted more intimate photos of the couple at Cyrus’ Nashville farm.

At the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s Hot Pink Party in New York City, Hurley provided additional insight into their relationship.
“I think some people were surprised to see Billy and I together, but it makes sense to me because we share so much in common,” she said on the red carpet. “We both love to laugh, adore country music, and we have a mutual love for movies. Plus, we both have a thing for cowboy boots.”
According to Hurley, their bond grew stronger as single parents; she has her son Damien, while Cyrus has six children. (Billy Ray shares Brandi, Trace, Miley, Noah, and Braison with ex-wife Tish Cyrus, and son Christopher with ex Kristin Luckey.)
They made their red carpet debut at the “Orizzonti | Rosso” Exhibition’s opening dinner in Rome on May 24, alongside Damian.
“Roma,” Hurley later captioned her Instagram photos from that evening.
