A Timeline of Karen Huger and Ray’s Relationship from RHOP
Karen Huger, who calls herself the “Grand Dame” of Potomac, has a loving nickname for her husband, the businessman Ray Huger.
“When I first started dating Ray, I helped him organize his office and came across a memo where he had drafted a speech to introduce Bill Gates to a gathering of—if I recall correctly—800 attendees,” Karen shared during an interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish in 2016. “I was amazed that the man I was dating actually introduced Bill Gates at an event. That’s when I told him, ‘You’re my little Black Bill Gates.’”
This endearing nickname and the couple’s playful chemistry were showcased when The Real Housewives of Potomac first aired in 2016.
“I didn’t even see Raymond physically. I just felt him spiritually,” recalled Karen about meeting her husband for the first time in 1994. “He’s my best friend.”
Over the past nine years, the couple has shared their journey on reality television. Recently, however, Karen found herself in a legal predicament after being convicted of DUI.
Before her sentencing, both Karen and Ray testified in court, being the only witnesses for her defense. A judge subsequently sentenced her to two years in prison, with one year suspended, meaning she will serve one year incarcerated.

To celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, Karen and Ray, who are parents to Rayvin and Brandon, decided to renew their vows at Virginia’s Platinum Wedding Event and Decor.
“We are on a different level now,” Karen told Bravo in April 2022. “Post vow renewal, our relationship has evolved… We’re still happily married. Sometimes I wonder when it all will slow down, and it’s amusing. It keeps us deeply connected. He is my best friend, my rock, and my inspiration.”
2022
During an August 2022 episode of the “Daily Dish” podcast, Karen admitted that her marriage to Ray faced some challenges recently, as depicted on the show.
However, through their highs and lows, Karen noted that their children remained very supportive.
“They were very understanding of our situation and said, ‘Look, you guys have been great parents, but we don’t want you to stay together just for us,’” she recounted. “They were rooting for us, but insisted, ‘You should prioritize your happiness!’ That’s a testament to raising children right. They respect us enough to say, ‘Don’t do it for us. Do it for yourselves. You both deserve the best.’ I feel fortunate to have such amazing kids. They are absolutely wonderful.”

Following Karen’s sentencing to one year in jail due to a DUI charge, Ray showed his unwavering support by testifying on her behalf and being present during her court appearances.
“You truly know he loves you when he insists on taking you to your wellness appointments. ❤️🎀,” Karen shared on Instagram in 2024 as her legal troubles unfolded. “#hubby #rideordie #friendsforlife #mammogram #rhop.”
