AJ Hawk Discusses Mysterious Ring and Wedding Speculations Surrounding Friend Aaron Rodgers
UPDATE — 5/7/25, 2:00 p.m. ET: Aaron Rodgers’ friend, AJ Hawk, addressed speculation regarding the NFL quarterback’s marital status after he was spotted with a ring over the weekend.
Hawk, 41, was at the same Kentucky Derby party as Rodgers, 41, on Friday, May 2, where Rodgers showcased the new adornment on his finger.
“From what we know, it wasn’t a wedding celebration,” Hawk remarked on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday, May 6. “Honestly, I can’t provide any clarity on that matter. He tends to be very private and enigmatic about such things, and this certainly falls into that category.”
Hawk mentioned he did “not push” Rodgers for any updates regarding his personal life.
Nonetheless, Hawk — who played alongside Rodgers on the Green Bay Packers for nine seasons from 2006 to 2014 — noted that Rodgers appeared “very happy” and “in good shape.”

The NFL quarterback, 41, ignited marriage speculations after he was seen sporting a dark band on his wedding ring finger at the 2025 Barnstable Brown Gala in Louisville, Kentucky, on Friday, May 2.
Fans took to social media to share their theories, with one user posting a video via X on Sunday, May 4, capturing Rodgers on the red carpet. “Looks like AR is officially a married man??? Check out the ring on his left ring finger,” the fan wrote in the post.
Us Weekly has reached out to a representative for Rodgers for a statement.
The appearance of the ring followed Rodgers’ recent romantic revelation, as the free agent mentioned during an April 17 video call on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show that he is in a serious relationship. “I’m in a different chapter of my life,” Rodgers stated. “At 41 years old, I find myself in a committed relationship. Off-the-field matters require my attention, and I have personal commitments that are meaningful to me.”
In December 2024, Rodgers also mentioned on The Pat McAfee Show that he was dating a woman named “Brittani,” making it clear she isn’t Britney Spears, but rather a “Brittani with an I.”
Before Brittani, Rodgers garnered media attention for his high-profile relationships, including his romance with Olivia Munn and his engagement to Shailene Woodley. (Rodgers and Woodley, 33, parted ways in February 2022 after becoming engaged in February 2021.)
Regarding his relationship with Brittani, Rodgers elaborated in December that she does not use social media and while she doesn’t watch McAfee’s show, she does appreciate the sports commentator. In response, McAfee expressed gratitude to Brittani for her support, joking that the world had discovered Rodgers was “in love,” to which Rodgers affirmed, “It’s a good feeling, boys.”
Rodgers’ relationship with Brittani is the first to be openly discussed since his breakup with Woodley. After the split, the Big Little Lies actress shared insights about the emotional challenges she faced.
“I haven’t revealed much about my relationship with Aaron because it always brings me to tears,” Woodley expressed in a December 2024 interview with Outside magazine. “It wasn’t meant to be, but it was beautiful.”
Woodley later remarked that she experienced a “really awful, traumatic thing” in 2022, which seemingly coincided with the end of their relationship. “I felt as if I lost my soul, my identity, my happiness, my joy,” she reflected on a particularly dark six-month period that year. “I truly grasped the meaning of depression and anxiety, and felt completely detached from my essence.”
