Alec’s insights into his career come amid his reflections on future paths. Having been a part of SNL from 2016 to 2020 and returning four years later, Alec previously expressed uncertainty about resuming his acting career following the Rust shooting. In January 2023, Alec faced involuntary manslaughter charges after the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on set. He held the prop gun that fired in October 2021, which resulted in Hutchins’ death and injuries to director Joel Souza, but he has maintained he holds no responsibility for the incident.

Baldwin pleaded not guilty, and charges were dropped in April 2023, though he was indicted again concerning Hutchins’ death. Ultimately, the second case was dismissed, and Baldwin has filed a lawsuit claiming malicious prosecution and civil rights violations against the prosecution team.

Alec, in turn, reflected on how “everything was so different before” the shooting. “Our lives are radically altered,” he stated. “Our children have been compelled to recognize that, and they’ve had to cope with it in their own ways.”
