Alexandra Breckenridge Responds to Family Guy’s Joke About Her
Alexandra Breckenridge expressed her excitement about seeing her character from Virgin River featured in an episode of Family Guy, even if the portrayal was humorous.
During an interview with TV Line, published on Sunday, March 29, the 43-year-old Breckenridge shared her response to being animated for the iconic Fox series. Alongside Martin Henderson, who plays her love interest in Virgin River, they appeared in a recent episode.
“When did this air?!” Breckenridge exclaimed upon discovering the news. “I have a friend who’s a producer on the show, and he never mentioned it to me!” She added, “I saw him just a couple weeks ago. I can’t believe he didn’t tell me. I literally visited his house!”
She mentioned that she took no offense at the joke, stating, “I guess that means we’ve made it into some sort of iconic, referenceable category, right?” (Interestingly, Breckenridge has voiced other characters on Family Guy over the years.)
In the Family Guy episode, Meg, voiced by Mila Kunis, humorously comments on Virgin River after trying a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. This leads her to envision mermaids, Temu, and scenes from Virgin River. She swims past an animated image of Breckenridge and Henderson’s characters, Melinda “Mel” Monroe and Jack Sheridan, sharing a hug, a recreation from season 4.
In addition to the Family Guy jest, Breckenridge opened up about Mel and Jack’s journey toward parenthood. The recently released season 7 on Netflix concluded with a cliffhanger involving the newborn they hoped to adopt facing emergency heart surgery.
While speaking to Parade, Breckenridge teased what lies ahead for Mel and Jack.
“Of course, I can’t spoil what happens next. But realistically, I doubt the writers will take the baby from Mel and Jack,” she stated during the Friday, March 27 interview. “I think the fans would revolt.”
She continued, “This will definitely be a real journey for both of them. Like any new parents, they’ll have to learn to balance their relationship, work, and family life.” Breckenridge emphasized, “They’ve proven they can unite through adversity, and I expect that will persist in this new chapter on their farm.”
Breckenridge remains affected by the baby’s current health issues, particularly as her character has previously faced a miscarriage and delivered a stillborn. “I didn’t enjoy this plot twist because it’s really putting us through a lot. I just hope everything is okay in season 8. I can’t imagine how Mel will cope with this, considering what she’s already faced, so we’ll see,” she explained.
