Alix Earle Reveals Her Decision to Cut Bangs on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ (Exclusive)

Alix Earle is ready to alter her look for Dancing With the Stars themed nights.

Earle, 24, shared exclusively with Us Weekly about getting wispy bangs for her Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night performance on Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday, November 4. Before her paso doble to “Livin’ On a Prayer” by Bon Jovi alongside pro Val Chmerkovskiy, the social media influencer allowed the show’s glam team to cut her hair, which she explained was her “idea.”

“I’m always eager to do whatever it takes to fully embrace the theme and costume,” Earle stated. “We aimed for a Pam Anderson inspired look, and I thought, ‘She has these shorter pieces at the front. Let’s just chop them off for the week and go all in.’” Earle mentioned that her hair was “fried off anyway,” so she wasn’t sentimental about the trim.

This week, Earle donned a playful skirt that flared out as she moved. She told Us that she didn’t have concerns about a wardrobe malfunction with the ankle-length design because “the wardrobe team ensures that during dress rehearsal, nothing shifts.” She added, “If something does arise, they tape you securely. You’re very safe.”

Earle scored a 39 out of 40 for her performance. This marks the second consecutive week she and Chmerkovskiy, 39, were just a hair away from a perfect score.
“I was thrilled with our scores. We worked really hard this week on the dance, and it felt so gratifying to receive those scores.” She expressed, “I’m living my biggest dreams at the moment, so I’m just trying to soak it all in.”

Earle revealed that she wasn’t disappointed about missing a perfect score, either. “This competition is incredibly tough this year, and I see it almost as a compliment that I didn’t achieve a perfect score because it indicates they see potential in me. I’m eager to unlock that potential and hopefully secure a perfect score at some point in the competition,” she told Us.

After the show, guest judge Flavor Flav explained why he gave Earle a 9 instead of a 10 via X.

“As a judge on #DWTS, I enter my score on a monitor first, then hold up the sign. I accidentally hit 9 for someone and informed the crew I intended to hit 10, but they told me they couldn’t change it, and there was nothing I could do. That girl deserved perfect 10s,” he wrote, apparently referencing Earle.

He later added in another tweet, “Y’all saw me looking down at the monitor confused and struggling to find the words because I was focused on the computer, then couldn’t locate the other paddle as I was ready to score with my 10. I found her afterward and apologized, letting her know what happened, and she was cool about it.”

Chmerkovskiy humorously noted to Us about their quest for a perfect score, saying, “We just need to start bribing the judges with more cash.”

The pro continued, “It’s also about stamina—emotional stamina, both together and individually—and they’re really pushing us for it. So I appreciate the challenge because when the perfect score does come, it’ll be that much more rewarding.”

Dancing With the Stars airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC and Disney+.
