Andi Dorfman Shares Why Postpartum Challenges Have Been Tougher Than Pregnancy
Former Bachelorette Andi Dorfman is opening up about her experiences after childbirth.
“I’m going to be candid and admit that the postpartum phase has been more challenging for me than pregnancy,” Dorfman, 38, shared in an Instagram Story video on Saturday, April 5. “Honestly, from a physical perspective, losing weight has been quite difficult for me.”
Dorfman also discussed the emotional hurdles she has faced during her postpartum journey.
“Your hormones are all over the place,” she confessed. “No one really prepares you for postpartum. There’s so much information about pregnancy, but relatively little about the postpartum experience. You’re also trying to manage all of this while being utterly exhausted from caring for your child.”
Dorfman welcomed her daughter, Harper, with husband Blaine Hart, in December 2024.
“It’s a significant issue. I believe every woman faces some type of battle after childbirth,” Dorfman commented further on Saturday. “Whether it’s external, internal, hormonal, or all of the above. Postpartum is definitely the hardest part of becoming a parent. I’m putting it out there.”
Despite facing postpartum challenges, Dorfman has relied on Hart for support throughout this period.
“Especially during the initial months, the word that comes to mind is partnership,” Dorfman expressed in a follow-up Instagram Story Q&A when asked about the evolution of their marriage since Harper’s birth. “Sometimes it feels like we’re teammates, tagging each other in to get everything done.”
She added, “You really need to make a conscious effort to spend quality time together and not let it be solely about the baby. But in doing so, you truly cultivate this amazing partnership with one another.”
Dorfman and Hart also aspire to expand their family — when the time feels appropriate.
“We’ve always mentioned wanting three kids, but we’ll take it one at a time,” the former reality TV star noted in a third slide during her Saturday Q&A session. “This year, I want to focus on our little family with just Harper and catch our breath, so we might consider trying again at the end of this year or early 2026.”
Dorfman married Hart in 2023 following her journey on reality TV. She first appeared on Juan Pablo Galavis’ season 18 of The Bachelor in 2014, eventually becoming the lead on The Bachelorette. During her time on The Bachelorette, Dorfman got engaged to Josh Murray before they separated several months later.
