
Anne Burrell: Her Journey to Food Network Stardom
Anne Burrell began her journey in the realm of Italian cuisine before achieving stardom on the Food Network.
In the late ’90s, Burrell honed her skills at the Culinary Institute of America and the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners, located in the Piedmont region. After finishing her education, she chose to stay in Italy, where she worked at several renowned restaurants.
Upon returning to the U.S., Burrell made her mark in various esteemed eateries across New York City. In addition to her restaurant endeavors, she ventured into teaching, which eventually led to her association with Mario Batali. Their friendship blossomed, and they collaborated on Iron Chef America.
Once she became a part of the Food Network family, Burrell showcased her talents on numerous programs as a host and judge. She gained significant recognition as the host of Worst Cooks in America.
Tragically, in June 2025, Burrell passed away at her residence in Brooklyn, New York, at the age of 55.
“Anne was a cherished wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend — her smile illuminated every room she entered,” her family shared in a statement to Us Weekly. “Anne’s light extended far beyond those she knew, impacting millions around the globe. Although she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and immense love will forever endure.”
