When the #MomTok group attended a Chippendales show in Las Vegas, Jen Affleck expressed concerns about it being “disrespectful” to her husband. A heated argument ensued when she informed Zac Affleck of her whereabouts.

Later, Jen confided in her co-stars that Zac allegedly told her he “didn’t want to be married to her” if she engaged in such activities.

In a pre-season interview with TODAY.com, Jen Affleck noted that she believed Zac’s anger stemmed from “the context of the situation.”

“If it had been a bachelorette party, it may not have been a big deal. But given that we’re representing our church and knowing millions would watch, he was worried about how I might be portrayed on camera,” she explained.

What unfolded for Zac and Jen Affleck post-Season 1?

Soon after the premiere of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” Jen took to TikTok to acknowledge the challenges of appearing on the show.

“Let’s just say this first season was tough for us,” she captioned a video featuring herself and Zac.

After the season aired, Jen expressed to Decider that the fight over Chippendales actually “strengthened” their marriage. Additionally, she told Vulture that they had been participating in “therapy nonstop” since filming.

“If we are to continue our relationship, some changes need to be made. If not, we may have to explore different options. But for now, I believe he’s genuinely trying to improve,” she remarked.

On September 19, Jen shared a tribute to her husband on Instagram, summarizing their marital status alongside photographs. She acknowledged her husband’s support for her achievements.

“I couldn’t have accomplished this without Zac. Is he perfect? No. Does he have flaws we’ve needed to work through? Yes. But I can confidently say he’s always been my biggest supporter,” she expressed.

She confirmed that they remain together amid the “struggles many marriages face.”

“Do we love each other? Yes. Are we ready to put in the effort to improve? Yes. Have there been times we considered walking away? Absolutely. But our marriage holds more depth and value than people may realize,” she added.

What transpired between Zac and Jen Affleck in Season 2?

The couple revealed their separation

At the start of Season 2, it became clear that Jen and Zac Affleck were taking time apart following their major Chippendales dispute.

“It’s been a few months of pure hell since Vegas,” Jen disclosed, mentioning that she was “separated” from her husband.

Prior to that, the couple had planned to relocate to New York for Zac’s medical school, but he ended up accepted into a school in Arizona, leading them to move there. As marital issues escalated, Jen returned to Utah and #MomTok.

Jen communicated her needs for the marriage to work

When Zac Affleck visited her in the season opener, he expressed his wish to reconcile and pause his medical studies. However, Jen appeared cautious due to their recent tumultuous history.

In a confessional interview, she specified what she required from Zac to save their marriage: “To fight for us, I need to feel that he prioritizes my feelings above his own.”

In response, Zac pleaded for another chance, admitting his mistakes and emphasizing his commitment to personal growth through therapy.

“I’m here to show you that I love you, that I can be a good husband and father. I want to fight for our marriage,” he proclaimed.

Jen stated that both partners must be “equals” for their marriage to thrive.

Zac reflected on how public reactions to their Chippendales conflict had strained their relationship.

“After Vegas, it felt like everyone was rooting for our divorce. I deeply regret my actions and how everything unfolded,” he revealed.

Although Jen maintained that separation was the best path to evaluate their relationship, she allowed Zac to move back in, on the condition that he wouldn’t interrupt her.

Along with couples’ therapy, they explored ketamine therapy to enhance their emotional connection.

Zac’s issues with Jen’s #MomTok friends persisted

Zac Affleck’s rapport with Jen’s #MomTok friends has been tense, particularly with Demi Engemann and Jessi Ngatikaura. This tension flared up in Season 2.

After Jen expressed the importance of her husband being friendly with her friends, Zac arranged a meeting with the influencers to clear the air.

They soon realized there had been misunderstandings stemming from Jen. For example, Engemann and Ngatikaura claimed Jen said Zac had cashed in his medical school tuition on gambling, which he denied.

Zac retorted that the two friends weren’t supportive of Jen post-fight, while they disagreed. Later, tensions escalated when the Afflecks gathered with Engemann and Ngatikaura. In a confessional, Engemann reported feeling conflicted.

“For a long time, I sided with Jen against Zac, but now her actions are erratic, leading me to question her loyalty,” she admitted.

Meanwhile, Jen contemplated her friendship with Engemann and Ngatikaura.

“After talking with Jessi and Demi, I’m unsure of where our friendship stands or if I can trust them,” she said privately.

The Chippendales incident resurfaced

At a Halloween gathering, some #MomTok ladies intended to have their husbands perform a Chippendales dance for Jen, leading Zac to appear uncomfortable.

“I’m torn between enjoying myself and knowing this makes Zac uneasy, compounded by how Demi and Jessi treated our relationship earlier. It raises doubts about their intentions,” Jen noted in a confessional.

Zac criticized it as “another jab from Jessi and Demi,” expressing frustration over their lack of communication.

“I don’t understand why they think they have the right to impose this on us without any prior warning. That undermines the good intentions they claim to possess,” he expressed.

Later, Jen confessed she was aware of her friends’ plan for the dance.

“I didn’t anticipate how much it would upset Zac. I wanted to be a fun friend, but I failed to assess their intentions and my own feelings,” she remarked.

Despite the discomfort, Zac voiced his frustration, feeling the need to defend their family while being portrayed negatively.

“I’m left defending our family, and it casts me in a negative light when these are your friends,” he explained, adding that he would confront any friends behaving similarly towards them.

During the discussion, Zac requested the filming crew to halt recording and chose to leave, indicating he wished to revisit the conversation later.

What is the current status of the couple?

As of May 2025, Jen and Zac Affleck are still together.

The couple announced their third pregnancy in February 2025. In an interview with People, Jen shared that filming the reality show significantly impacted her marriage and mental health.

“There were many dark moments. Our story has so much depth that isn’t fully recognized,” she noted.

In another interview with People, Jen elaborated on the extensive work she and Zac had committed to for their marriage.

“Given everything we endured last year and the amount of therapy we had to go through,” she acknowledged.

Having returned to #MomTok, Jen described the situation as “daunting,” given all they had faced as a couple.

Jen shared that Zac has a few months to decide on continuing his medical studies. For now, “his focus is to support me.”
