Asher Grodman of Ghosts Hints at Potential Reunion for Trevor and Hetty

Asher Grodman understands that Ghosts fans are eager for Trevor and Getty to reunite—but could that actually occur?

“This was something that Rebecca [Wisocky] and I were interested in exploring because they’re such great contrasts to one another,” Grodman, 38, shared exclusively with Us Weekly. “They have both commonalities and significant differences.”

Grodman described the experience of bringing the fictional couple to life as “fun” for both him and Wisocky, 54.

“Especially when it wasn’t solely focused on the relationship but on what truly matters to them,” he elaborated. “It’s about the hierarchy and who is on top—though I don’t mean that in a sexual sense, but it certainly applies there as well.”

Ghosts debuted in 2021 and is based on the original British series. The story follows a married couple who relocate from the city to the inherited Woodstone Manor, where Sam (Rose McIver) encounters ghosts from various periods of American history after an accident reveals them to her.

Grodman portrays Trevor, a hedonistic stockbroker who unfortunately met his end in the home. He initially formed an unexpected bond with Hetty, the prim lady of the manor (Wisocky), but ultimately their casual relationship didn’t last.

“I suppose I’m surprised by how well it resonated. However, I’m not surprised that it was enjoyable, as playing that dynamic is just a blast,” he told Us. “What makes it unique is that their conflict has a dynamic that is distinctly their own, whereas romantic conflicts can often feel very similar.”

Grodman added: “Their relationship is truly charting its own course; there’s potential for romance down the line. Especially on a show like ours, witnessing a couple so volatile is exhilarating. We love our fans, and their reactions have been fantastic.”

Reflecting on Trevor and Hetty’s evolution, Grodman recounted how he initially suggested to the writers that they explore this dynamic further.

“One of our significant pitches, whether together or separately, was the idea that Trevor and Hetty were perfect for a combustible, passionate, yet adversarial bond,” he remembered. “That dynamic was just begging to be explored.”

An emotional roller-coaster. From Riverdale‘s Cheryl and Toni to Nancy Drew‘s Nancy and Ace, fans have seen their beloved couples suffer heartbreaking separations. Riverdale, which premiered in 2017, originally introduced Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) as a grieving sister coping with the loss of her twin brother Jason (Trevor Stines). After striking […]

Grodman also shared some insights with Us about what will be explored in season 5.

“I can tease that Trevor is going to create some chaos, which is typical for him,” the actor joked. “That’s really his defining feature. We’ll see some familiar patterns in his behavior.”

As Ghosts enters its fifth season—and has already been renewed for a sixth—Grodman praised the show for balancing stability while keeping things fresh and engaging.

“Over time, we’ve really honed our skills as we build these intricate sets. The worlds we’re constructing in that Montreal studio are truly extraordinary. What’s also entertaining is that at any point in the show, the audience understands exponentially more about the world than the ghosts do,” he explained. “However, the ghosts have a much deeper knowledge of their own historical contexts and the events that took place on this land.”

He concluded: “When we delve into the history of this land and witness how one story intertwines with another, it creates a fascinating map for us to navigate. Provided we remain creatively responsible, the possibilities truly are endless because every element can serve as a seed for future narratives.”

Ghosts airs on CBS Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. ET and is available for streaming the following day on Paramount+.
