Bachelorette Makeup Artist Shares Her ‘Flawless’ Routine for Reality TV Glamour
Lyndsay Zavitz shared her beauty insights with Us.
Zavitz opened up exclusively to Us Weekly about perfecting glam for her high-profile clients, including Hannah Brown, Candace Cameron Bure, Witney Carson, Dorit Kemsley, Kaitlyn Bristowe, and others.
“As a celebrity makeup artist, clients often request a flawless, camera-ready appearance while maintaining a natural and effortless vibe,” she explained to Us. “This is especially crucial for my Bachelor/Bachelorette clients, who film all day and need to look their best without appearing overly made up.”
To begin her process, Zavitz focuses on establishing a “flawless base” for her clients, opting for a “medium to full-coverage foundation that offers seamless coverage without heaviness.”
“The secret lies in selecting a formula that mimics the look of natural skin while ensuring durability under studio lighting,” she elaborated, mentioning her go-to products like La Mer’s Soft Fluid Long Wear Foundation and NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, which she’s used for years.
After the foundation, Zavitz told Us that she prefers applying individual false lashes for her reality stars instead of strip lashes since “details matter” on camera. “By carefully placing a few individual lashes, you can achieve a delicate, wide-eyed effect that feels subtle yet striking,” said the makeup artist, adding that her favorite brand is Sweed Lashes for their “varying sizes” and “dimensional appearance”—and the fact that they are “completely undetectable on camera.”
When it comes to bronzer, Zavitz uses a mix of cream and powder blushes to prevent her clients from appearing washed out on camera. True to Patrick Ta’s techniques, she employs the makeup artist’s Major Sculpt Crème Contour & Powder Bronzer Duo for a natural finish. “I start with a cream bronzer to add sculpture and depth, then layer a bit of powder bronzer on top to set the look and achieve a sun-kissed glow,” Zavitz told Us.
For fans of the Bachelor franchise, a great lip combination may be the most crucial—and flirtatious—element of any makeup look. Zavitz takes steps to ensure that the contestants’ lips remain intact from kissing one suitor to the next by prepping them with Image Skincare ORMEDIC Sheer Pink Lip Enhancement Complex. She then defines their lips using Make Up For Ever’s Artist Color Pencil before applying Patrick Ta’s Silky Lip Crème, which she insists is “smudge proof.”
No makeup look is complete without a “strategic glow,” according to Zavitz. She utilizes Iconic London’s Illuminator Liquid Highlight to reflect the powerful lights of production on screen.
Unlike typical makeup routines, Zavitz doesn’t “believe” in using setting sprays to secure her makeup. “My clients are always astonished by how long their makeup stays in place using my method,” she shared with Us. “The secret to longevity lies in the preparation and setting. By ensuring the foundation is applied correctly, the skin is hydrated, and the makeup is set with the appropriate translucent powder, the look will endure all night, regardless of how intense the spotlight shines.”
