Bachelorette’s Rachel Recchia Opens Up About Dealing with Negative Comments
Bachelor Nation’s Rachel Recchia became emotional while addressing her critics.
“Typically, I’m okay with a lot of the comments made about me online, but lately, things have escalated significantly,” Recchia, 30, shared in a video posted on TikTok on Tuesday, March 31. “Whenever I share something, most of the comments say, ‘I don’t look like myself,’ ‘I don’t look good,’ ‘I look sick,’ and ‘I was far more beautiful back then.’”
Recchia acknowledged that she “understands” she appears different from her time on Clayton Echard’s season 26 of The Bachelor in 2022. “I’ve been quite open about the filler and Botox treatments I’ve had,” she noted. “I would do anything to be 25 and look that way again.”
Recchia later starred as one of the co-leads of The Bachelorette season 19 alongside Gabby Windey in 2022. She added, “Another topic I wanted to address is the weight fluctuations I’ve experienced over the years.”
Recchia explained that before filming season 3 of Perfect Match in 2025, she became “very sick” and required a PICC [peripherally inserted central catheter] line in her arm, which resulted in weight loss.
“Immediately after the PICC line was removed, I went to film the show,” she continued, getting emotional. “I lost even more weight.”
@pilot.rachel Reminder to be kind today 🤍
“You go on a show and the main feedback is people commenting on how big I was when I was the Bachelorette, and then you see yourself at a different weight, making it tough to embrace weight gain,” the ABC alum confessed, revealing that she has “struggled” with her body image since then.
Recchia mentioned that she’s “working on” her self-image and has seen remarks about her “slimmer” face, adding, “There’s so much happening right now in the reality TV landscape with how women are treated regarding their appearance.”
“I know I’ve put myself in this position, but it’s been a significant struggle for me, and I wish I had a resolution to share,” she concluded. Recchia urged fans to “spread a bit more kindness in the world and online.”
“Reminder to be kind today 🤍,” she captioned the post. Her celebrity friends and fans quickly showed their support in the comments section.
Fellow Bachelor Nation alum Charity Lawson commented, “Love you so much ❤️,” while another follower added, “ALL versions of you are beautiful! You deserve to be comfortable in your own skin!” A different fan remarked, “Honestly, you looked gorgeous then, and you look absolutely stunning now!!!!”
