Below Deck’s Jenna and Ellie Clash Over Galley Hand Rankings
Below Deck Down Under‘s Ellie Dubaich and Jenna Woudberg found themselves at odds regarding their ranks on the boat.
In the episode that aired on Monday, April 6, Daisy Kelliher asked Ellie to swap roles with Jenna while they welcomed guests, highlighting their differing positions. Jenna believed her role as a second stew granted her higher seniority than Ellie, who was designated as a galley hand.
However, Ellie referred to herself as a “sous chef” later on. Chef Ben Robinson, in a confessional, clarified that this title was not quite accurate, mentioning that he had unofficially dubbed her “chef assistant,” though the title of galley hand was the most appropriate.
Although the disagreement remained unresolved, fans of Below Deck are aware that the drama escalated once filming concluded. Ellie and Jenna engaged in a back-and-forth about their roles on the boat before Ellie opened up about the offscreen feud.
“I was shocked because I didn’t intend to offend anyone. I was merely recounting what transpired after [stew] Joe [Caron] left,” Ellie exclusively shared with Us Weekly in March.
Ellie entered season 4 of Below Deck Down Under following some changes that led to a stew position being unavailable, but a kitchen role becoming open. Upon her arrival, Ellie opted to shift to the galley instead of working in the interior, which sparked backlash when Daisy and Jenna suggested someone might have been at risk of losing their job had Ellie not agreed to the change.
“I was on track to become a second stew because Captain Jason [Chambers] wanted a top-notch leadership team. I began my career at sea when Jenna was in the third grade back in 2016. That’s just a fact, not a slight,” Ellie told Us. “It made perfect sense for Captain Jason to want me in a leadership role. When he asked me to switch, I was more than happy to do so. That’s all I meant.”
She elaborated, “I was pleased with how things unfolded. However, Jenna and Daisy’s reactions felt harsh and uncalled for, which caught me off guard. I think that speaks volumes about how those two treated me this season.”
Ellie deemed Daisy’s reaction a “one-sided” matter.
“It all began this season, and we’ll see how it develops,” she hinted. “I don’t really have an issue with Daisy. It seems she holds a grudge against me for some reason. We’ll see how that evolves, but I personally have no issues with her.”
Looking to the future, Ellie assured that there’s no animosity on her part.
“I had no issues from the start,” she added. “Let’s move forward—as far as I’m concerned.”
Below Deck Down Under airs on Bravo Mondays at 8 p.m. ET, with new episodes available to stream the following day on Peacock.
