Below Deck’s Nathan Shares Why He ‘Kicked’ His Dad Out at Age 15
Below Deck Mediterranean‘s Nathan Gallagher recently opened up about his complex relationship with his father.
In the episode that aired on Monday, January 26, Nathan supported Victoria SanJuan, who became emotional over her ex Joe Bradley openly pursuing their coworker Kizzi Kitchener. Finding Victoria alone on the swim platform, Nathan offered her a comforting hug.
“I’m very protective of my friends, family, and even my sister,” Nathan shared in a confessional. “When I was 15, I had to kick my dad out of the house because I needed to be a protector for my mom.”
Nathan later expressed to Joe his disappointment with his friend’s actions. Although Joe attempted to repair their friendship, the season concluded with unresolved tensions between them.
“I have grown since last season, and I can see the distance it’s created,” Nathan noted in a January episode. “Watching him repeat the same mistakes shows me that he values no one but himself. I think it may be time to move on from that type of friendship.”
Nathan and Joe, who worked together in season 10, quickly became friends before reconnecting this season. As Below Deck Med progressed, Joe hinted at his disconnection from Nathan when he exclusively told Us Weekly in November 2025 that he had “yet” to meet Nathan and Gael Cameron‘s baby.
“From what I’ve seen on social media, the baby looks absolutely stunning,” Joe remarked about the couple’s first child, born in June 2025. “I did try sending a few messages to Nathan, though.”
Joe mentioned that Nathan is likely “busy at the moment.”
“He’s a dad now, and he could be on a boat somewhere — I’m not really sure,” he added. “We’re just not overly social right now, and our communication has been limited, but from what I’ve seen, what a beautiful little baby that is.”
Reflecting on working with Nathan again, Joe expressed his thoughts.
“Having Nathan as my boss was refreshing to see because you can witness someone’s growth. But don’t get me wrong; he presents a very different side this season. If you’re more organized, things tend to go smoother,” Joe teased to Us. “He’s the boss, so I will respect his role.”
Joe shared that he was cautious about not wanting to “step on any toes” after joining Bravado.
“I’m eager to be there for a dear friend and to respect professional boundaries, regardless of who it is,” he continued. “So was I nervous? Not at all. My goal is simply to be there for someone. That’s my perspective.”
In other scenes from Monday’s season finale, Nathan and Gael were seen with their son as Nathan prepared to return to work for the next season of Below Deck Med.
Below Deck Med is currently available for streaming on Peacock.
