Bethenny Frankel’s Florida Relocation Aims to ‘Support’ Her Daughter
Bethenny Frankel is making a move from New York City to Florida, and there’s a heartwarming reason for this change.
An insider exclusively disclosed to Us Weekly on Thursday, April 17, that one of the primary motivations for Frankel’s decision is her 14-year-old daughter, Bryn Hoppy, whom she shares with ex-husband Jason Hoppy.
“Bryn is Bethenny’s top priority, and the choice to relocate to Florida was entirely focused on supporting her,” a source close to Frankel, 54, revealed to Us. “The decision takes into account Bryn’s academic and athletic aspirations and was made with her physical and emotional health at the forefront.”
This announcement follows Frankel’s revelation in an Instagram video earlier that same Thursday, where she expressed her plans to relocate.
“I am relocating to Florida for personal and professional reasons,” she stated in the video. “Something has emerged that made this the optimal and healthiest decision for myself and my daughter.”
She also mentioned: “We will keep residences in the Hamptons and New York City because we love New York. This will be our primary and permanent home.”
Frankel hinted at the possibility of a move when she posted a photo depicting stacked U-Haul boxes.
“Life is good, albeit with some unexpected stressful surprises … Moments filled with good friends, food, laughter, and, as always, a touch of chaos,” she wrote in the Instagram post, teasing, “So many exciting changes are on the horizon… but you nosy ones will just have to wait and see 😉 xoxo #lifelately #goodlife #surprises #happy.”
The Real Housewives of New York City star welcomed Bryn in May 2010. Frankel and her ex Jason, who married in 2010, separated two years after their daughter’s birth. Following a custody battle, Frankel was granted full custody of Bryn in 2020, with her drawn-out divorce finalized in 2021.
In an exclusive chat with Us Weekly in June 2023, Frankel expressed how much she cherishes being a mother, declaring: “I love parenting!”
The reality TV star shared insights on how she and Bryn have nurtured their special mother-daughter relationship throughout the years.
“We cherish rituals and strive to create memories for every holiday and season,” Frankel elaborated to Us. “From picking vegetables to surfing, wakeboarding, and snowboarding, we enjoy a lot of activities together.”
Following her divorce and custody dispute with Jason, Frankel moved on with Paul Bernon, with whom she was in a relationship for six years before their engagement ended.
A mutual friend of the ex-couple confirmed to Us in May 2024 that “it just wasn’t meant to be” between them.
“They are quite different – he tends to be more low-key,” the source mentioned.
