Bobby Berk Responds to the Conclusion of ‘Queer Eye’ Following His Departure
Almost two months after Netflix revealed that Queer Eye would conclude with its 10th season, former Fab Five member Bobby Berk expressed his heartfelt reaction.
“We had such an incredible journey,” Berk, 43, shared exclusively with Us Weekly at Narwal’s summer event in Los Angeles on Thursday, August 21. “Technically, with [the four-episode special filmed in] Japan in 2019, we completed 11 seasons, making it the longest-running Netflix original series ever. Being a part of that has been amazing. I can’t wait to see their final season.”
Berk was the design expert on the show from seasons 1 to 8 before he was succeeded by Jeremiah Brent. Following Berk’s announcement of his departure in November 2023, a source informed Us that he had been “asked to leave due to a lack of chemistry with the cast.”
“There were numerous scheduling challenges, and Bobby lost interest in filming,” the source elaborated at that time. “The network and the cast felt it was time to introduce new talent. His enthusiasm was absent, leading to some resentment within the cast.”
Berk later clarified that his departure from Queer Eye was his own decision but did acknowledge some friction with fashion expert Tan France.
“Tan and I had our moments,” Berk told Vanity Fair in January 2024. “What happened is personal and has nothing to do with the show—it’s not romantic, just to clarify.”
He added, “I was upset, and that’s that. We became like siblings—siblings will always have their fights. I can see in six months or a year, Tan and I visiting each other and being good.”

However, in March 2024, France, 42, claimed in an Instagram video that Berk had been “fired” from Queer Eye, denying any involvement in recruiting his friend Brent, 40.
“Netflix and the production companies conducted a thorough casting,” France stated. “I didn’t set up my friend for this opportunity. They earned it because they were the best fit for the role. Am I thrilled they got the job? Absolutely! I believe they will excel on the show. But I didn’t facilitate the hiring process at someone else’s expense.”
Having moved past the drama, Berk is now concentrating on his new HGTV show, Junk or Jackpot?
“We discover individuals with collections, ranging from junk to treasures,” he explained to Us at the event, describing the upcoming series as a blend of PBS’s Antiques Roadshow and HGTV’s Flip or Flop.
Berk also hinted at “some scripted shows” in development. “I’ll be acting soon, but that’s all I can share for now,” he teased.
