Bones Co-Stars Emily Deschanel and Carla Gallo Express Interest in Potential Reboot
Nearly two decades have passed since the debut of Bones, and fans are still eager for a comeback — but will stars Emily Deschanel and Carla Gallo return?
“I would. I’m quite vocal about it,” Gallo, who portrayed Daisy Wicks on the show, shared exclusively with Us Weekly on Tuesday, March 18. “I’m the first to ask, ‘Hey, [creator] Hart Hanson, how about a reboot?’ I have no subtlety.”
The actress, who co-hosts the “Boneheads” podcast with Deschanel, 48, admitted to missing her fellow cast members.
“I miss our time together,” Gallo, 49, confessed. “Honestly, it’s a bit embarrassing, but I’ve been watching clips of us filming. … It brings me such joy to see us all together again. So, I’ll say it: I’d love to do it.”
Deschanel, who starred as the lead anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan alongside David Boreanaz as FBI special agent Seeley Booth, is also supportive of the idea of a revival.
“Not every job is filled with joy and excitement,” Deschanel candidly shared with Us in a joint interview, reminiscing about her experience on the Fox series. “Not every moment was. There were challenges, and it demanded a lot of effort.”
She reflected that despite the hard work, it was all worth it because the Bones team was exceptional. “Not every job allows you to have such a great time and enjoy the people around you, as we did on Bones,” Deschanel elaborated.
She noted that due to the strong bond formed on set, “I’m open to it.” Deschanel quipped, “I’m unsure who makes these choices, but I’m definitely open to the idea.”
Deschanel portrayed Brennan on Bones for 12 seasons from 2005 to 2017. Throughout the series, Brennan and her Jeffersonian team — including squintern Daisy — collaborated with Booth to solve cases where only the bones of the victim remained. (Gallo joined the cast in season 4 in 2008.)

Brennan and Booth eventually fell in love throughout the series, enhancing the reasons why fans cherished the show so much.
While Deschanel and Gallo are enthusiastic about the possibility of a reboot, they are not the only members of the cast to show interest in a return.
Boreanaz, 55, referred to the show as “lightning in a bottle” in August 2024, stating in an interview with TV Insider, “I treasure that experience dearly; it would be wonderful to relive it.”
Currently, there’s no official announcement regarding a Bones revival. However, fans of the show can enjoy behind-the-scenes stories and revisit the series weekly on Deschanel and Gallo’s “Boneheads” podcast.

“Betty White was a dream guest for us, and we just missed that opportunity so sadly,” Deschanel mentioned to Us when discussing their ideal guests on the podcast, referring to the late actress who portrayed Dr. Beth Mayer during the series’ 11th and 12th seasons. (White passed away in December 2021 at the age of 99.)
Deschanel added, “Michael B. Jordan was also on the show. That would be incredible.”
Gallo expressed her desire to have Cyndi Lauper as a guest after her memorable appearances on the series. “I’m amazed by the guest stars we featured. It feels endless. We’ve barely started to explore,” Gallo observed.
“It’s a gift that continues to give. People can watch it repeatedly without needing a DVD set,” Deschanel chuckled. “It’s available on Hulu or Peacock and probably several other platforms too.”

As Gallo reminded, fans can “tune into the podcast” every Wednesday, to which Deschanel added that every episode includes “behind-the-scenes insights.”
Moreover, listeners get to “hang out with us like friends just chatting,” Deschanel concluded.
The “Boneheads” podcast is produced by Lemonada Media with new episodes available every Wednesday.
