Bridgerton Season 4 Trailer: Benedict and Sophie Discover Love Before Intimacy
Benedict and Sophie’s romantic tale, filled with intrigue and passion, was hinted at in the Bridgerton season 4 trailer — featuring several steamy moments.
Netflix shared the first look on Thursday, December 25, showcasing Benedict (Luke Thompson) once again attempting to evade the quest for a bride.
“To the season’s most infamous gentleman, Benedict Bridgerton, he must yield to that formidable force: mothers,” Lady Whistledown narrates, just before Violet (Ruth Gemmell) insists that he “simply must” secure a marriage soon.
Benedict’s mother encourages him to be observant at her masquerade ball. There, he spots the enigmatic Sophie (Yerin Ha), instantly captivated, but she slips away before he can discover her name. The audience knows that Sophie is a servant in the employ of a wealthy family.
“He does not seek me,” Sophie states in the preview. “He seeks the lady in the silver gown — who is merely a fantasy.”
In another part of the trailer, Francesca (Hannah Dodd) shares a kiss with her husband, John (Victor Alli), a contrast to their more reserved dynamic in season 3. Additionally, there’s a fiery scene between Alice (Emma Naomi) and Will (Martins Imhangbe), while a brief moment alludes to the consummation of Benedict and Sophie’s relationship. Fans also caught a passionate exchange between Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) in a carriage, echoing their intimate moments from season 3.
Inspired by Julia Quinn’s book series, each season of Bridgerton centers on a different Bridgerton sibling’s pursuit of love in the realm of 19th-century London. The acclaimed Regency drama aims for eight seasons, corresponding to the eight novels penned by Quinn devoted to each Bridgerton sibling.
Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) was the central character when Bridgerton premiered in 2020. The second season featured her brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), while Colin took the spotlight in the third season. This season marked the first time the series deviated from the original sequence of Quinn’s novels by pursuing Colin’s storyline instead of Benedict’s.
Since this narrative shift, readers have rallied for Benedict to become the next main character, drawing from his tale in An Offer From a Gentleman, while Francesca or Eloise (Claudia Jessie) could be highlighted in season 5.
“My hope is that all the siblings will eventually take the lead because we adore them [all],” Quinn exclusively shared with Us Weekly in May. “That was the essence of the books: eight distinct stories that are interconnected.”
After some fans voiced their disappointment about the seasons being released out of sequence, Quinn defended this choice.
“Books, films, and television each have their unique requirements … to function effectively, and they all possess different strengths,” she explained at the time. “Certain elements that translate well in a book don’t necessarily adapt seamlessly to television. Thus, one requisite change in the show was to format it more as an ensemble piece.”
Season 4 of Bridgerton is set to premiere on January 29, 2026, on Netflix, with part 2 following on February 26, 2026.
