Brie Garcia Shares Frightening Pool Experience with Son Buddy
Brie Garcia shared a frightening experience at the pool with her son, Buddy.
During the Monday, June 9 episode of “The Nikki and Brie Show” on SiriusXM, Garcia, 41, recounted how Buddy jumped into the deep end after another child threw an item into the pool and urged him to “go fetch.”
Brie had taken Buddy, 4, and his sister, Birdie, 7, to the pool but opted not to swim herself as she didn’t want to ruin her freshly styled hair. “We go to this, like, club place, so there’s people at the pool, whatever. It’s Sunday, fun day,” Brie explained to her sister, Nikki Garcia. “We’re all there and my kids, so Birdie’s actually really great at swimming now. It’s, like, really crazy to see her do laps. Buddy’s confident in the shallow end but gets anxious in the deep end. He knows how to swim, but we’re not there yet, so I’m watching them like a hawk.”
“Before we left the house, I told the kids, ‘Mommy’s not wearing her swimsuit; I just don’t feel like swimming.’ Honestly, I wanted to keep my blowout intact. I thought, ‘This blowout can last a couple more days,’” she added.
After Buddy was encouraged to retrieve the toy, he “jumped into the deep end, and I watched the entire thing unfold, thinking, ‘Is he going to swim? Has he gained the confidence?’ Then Birdie exclaimed, ‘He’s drowning.’ It was so dramatic! I sprinted and jumped into the deep end.”
“I was in the middle of a conversation with five adults when I had to sprint and grab him. We surfaced, and Buddy was wearing Birdie’s huge pink glittery goggles, looking upset, as he rightly should be. Everyone was dead silent, just staring. I thought to myself, ‘Wow, this is what I deserve,’” Brie continued.
Brie’s harrowing experience occurred shortly after May marked National Water Safety Month and weeks after Emilie Kiser’s 3-year-old son, Trigg, drowned in their family pool. Kiser has been seeking privacy regarding the details of his tragic death. As of Tuesday, June 3, court documents obtained by Us stated that a judge granted Kiser temporary confidentiality to balance the public’s need for information with privacy interests.
“Emilie has fully cooperated with investigators. The focus is not on withholding facts but protecting the dignity of a child and allowing a grieving family time to heal,” a source informed Us, noting that Kiser was not home during Trigg’s tragic incident.
