Brittany Cartwright Responds to Mom-Shaming Regarding Her Fashion Selections
Motherhood won’t hold Brittany Cartwright back from wearing what she loves.
“I cherish being a mom more than anything else in my life,” Cartwright, 36, expressed in a recent interview with The Cut that was released on Thursday, April 17. “But just because I’m experiencing a divorce doesn’t mean I can’t dress up and feel sexy from time to time.”
After welcoming her son, Cruz, in April 2021 with her ex Jax Taylor, The Valley star remarked that her body underwent changes, which influenced her fashion decisions.
“Dressing for my body can be challenging sometimes since my breasts have become even larger after having my son, but I’m not bothered by other people’s opinions,” she shared. “If something catches my attention, I go for it.”
Just because she doesn’t mind what others say, doesn’t mean she’s oblivious to online comments.
As she continues to share her life with reality TV cameras, Cartwright noted that many are quick to judge her looks and appearance — even if they don’t truly know her.
“People often ask, ‘Why are you wearing a low-cut top? You’re a mother,’” she said. “Yes, I’m a mother, but I’m also 36 years old. I believe I should be able to express my sexuality however I choose without it being a problem.”
Moreover, Cartwright emphasizes that she’s not doing anything inappropriate — like walking around unclothed in public.
“Just because you’re a mom doesn’t mean you can’t show some cleavage. What’s up with that?” she questioned. “All I want is to feel good. Dressing up enhances my self-esteem, and being happy helps me be a better mom.”
Earlier this month, Cartwright shared that Cruz, 3, was diagnosed with a form of autism.
The Bravo star told Us that she chose to make her son’s diagnosis public in hopes of “helping other families facing similar situations who might not know where to start.”
(An estimated one in 36 children has been identified with autism spectrum disorder, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network.)
“I wouldn’t change a thing about him,” she added. “He is the most incredible, special little boy. He is mostly nonverbal right now, but he still [says] ‘Mommy’ all the time. He was saying ‘Mommy’ today… he is just so perfect.”
