Carly Pearce Embraces Self-Discovery in Her ‘Single Era’ with New Music “Choosing Me”
As Carly Pearce nears her 35th birthday, she takes pride in placing herself at the forefront of her life choices.
“I feel that in every aspect—whether it’s the music I create or how I choose to spend my days personally—I’m prioritizing myself,” Pearce, 34, revealed exclusively in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “For the first time, I’m fully doing things the way I want, embracing my single era, and genuinely enjoying it.”
Whether she’s on stage for her Hummingbird tour or preparing to perform at the Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio, California, on Friday, April 25, the artist behind “What He Didn’t Do” continues to chase her musical aspirations.
She’s also amazed at how many fans have found inspiration in her authentic and heartfelt songs.
“I never thought people would connect with my songwriting the way they have,” she shared with Us. “I’ve always seen myself as a personal songwriter, but it wasn’t until I created my album, 29: Written in Stone, that I realized how much being open and vulnerable could be a strengths.”
“I’m grateful that people come to my performances to feel understood,” Pearce added. “I write music to help myself feel that way. It’s truly a remarkable experience.”
While touring, we asked Pearce to Make Us a Mixtape with her favorite songs. Keep reading to discover the tracks that have profoundly touched her heart.
Song That Reminds Carly of Her Childhood:

“Cowboy Take Me Away” by The Chicks. I think back to elementary school, dreaming of a career in country music. I likely performed that song at my first talent show.
Song That Carly Sings in the Car When No One Is Watching:
Any tune by Shania Twain works! I’d say “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.” That’s a classic everyone recognizes.
Song That Makes Carly Cry:
There are plenty! I’d choose “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” [by John Mayer]. The song’s heartbreakingly captures the reality of a relationship fading away. As a songwriter, it’s a tune I wish I had penned myself.
Song That Reminds Carly of Summertime:

Anything by Kenny Chesney reminds me of summer, but I’ll highlight “Anything But Mine.” I adore his live performances.
Song by One of Carly’s Idols That Always Inspires Her:
“Jolene” by Dolly Parton for its honesty, vulnerability, and iconic status.
Song Carly Recommends for a First Date:
While it may not be strictly for the first date, one of the most romantic songs is “Violins” by Amos Lee. By this point, a kiss is likely on the horizon.
Song That Gets Carly and Everyone Around Her Dancing:
I’m sure it works on my tour bus filled with married men: “Formation” by Beyoncé always does the trick. It’s incredible, trust me.
