
Cause of Death of 33-Year-Old Ariela La Langosta Disclosed
The reason for the death of influencer Ariela La Langosta has come to light.
The Westchester County Police Department confirmed that a woman named Ariela Mejia-Polanco was discovered deceased in her vehicle at 8 a.m. on Sunday, August 17.
“The woman found dead in her car on the Cross County Parkway on Sunday died due to gunshot wounds, as confirmed by the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office today,” stated a post on Facebook on Monday, August 18.
Authorities indicated that a preliminary investigation revealed she was “likely targeted for violence,” adding that “her death was no random act.”
“The homicide is under investigation by detectives from the General Investigations Unit,” the statement noted. “Support has been provided by other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies … as the investigation continues. Due to the ongoing inquiry, further details are not being disclosed at this time.”
Following the announcement of Ariela’s passing, rapper 6ix9ine paid his respects. (Ariela appeared in 6ix9ine’s 2023 “Wapae” music video.)
“You stood by me in everything. My sister,” 6ix9ine wrote in an Instagram Story on Sunday, translated from Spanish, according to E! News. He described Ariela as a “remarkable woman” and the “queen of New York.”
Ariela’s workplace, Ikon New York, also paid tribute, sharing a photo of the influencer beaming at the camera.
“Today we lost our shining star @ariiela.lalangosta 💔,” the Instagram post shared on Monday stated. “Our hearts are shattered. Your joy, humility, and the way you treated everyone with such care always made you stand out. Thank you for pouring so much love and support into our home, which also became yours.”
The statement continued, “To Ariela’s family, we are here for you in any way you need. We still can’t grasp it… you were our joy, our happiness. We love you and will miss you forever. 🙏🏽✨.”
In another Instagram post, Ikon New York indicated that the restaurant would remain closed until Tuesday, August 19, “in honor of one of our beloved team members who recently passed away.” (The restaurant was set to start new hours, opening on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.)
“She was a brilliant, humble soul with incredible energy — the type of person who could light up any room she entered. She will be profoundly missed by all of us,” the statement expressed. “Please take a moment to cherish and love your own loved ones. Life is precious.”
