Celebrities Who Pranked Us with Fake Pregnancy Posts on April Fool’s Day
Sanya Richards-Ross, Tori Spelling and numerous other celebrities have sparked controversy by joking about fake pregnancies on April Fools’ Day throughout the years.
In 2021, Spelling shared an Instagram post where she cradled her belly, captioning it, “No. 6.” (She is the mother to Stella, Liam, Hattie, Finn, and Beau with her ex-husband Dean McDermott.)
The Beverly Hills, 90210 star later explained that she had posted the image in response to the “constant questions” regarding whether she and McDermott were planning to add to their family.
“I understand that pregnancy is a tremendous blessing. I would never intentionally make light of losing a child or being unable to conceive,” she stated. “Having experienced miscarriage myself, I empathize with those who are hurting. I love you all. Please share your stories—I’m here to support you. Consider this a virtual hug to my community.”
Sabrina Carpenter faced online criticism in April 2023 after she joked about being pregnant with her first child during a performance in Salt Lake City. She asked the audience, “Put your hands up if you live in Salt Lake. How do you get alcohol on Sundays?” before adding, “I’m pregnant. Happy April Fools’ Day.” The Disney Channel star did not address the joke after the concert.
In April 2026, Richards-Ross made a fake pregnancy announcement for April Fools’ Day, later releasing a video on her Instagram Story where she apologized for the prank.
