Charles Melton and Camille Summers-Valli Celebrate the Arrival of Their First Baby
Riverdale star Charles Melton has officially welcomed his first child with his girlfriend, Camille Summers-Valli.
“Our family,” Melton, 35, shared in a series of Instagram posts on Monday, March 9, showcasing his early moments as a father.
While the actor did not disclose the exact birth date, he did share a heartwarming picture cradling the newborn as well as a family photo featuring the trio.
“❤️ angels,” commented Melton’s Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart. Marisol Nichols, known for her role as Veronica Lodge’s (Camila Mendes) mother, also extended her congratulations with, “Omg! 😍 Congrats Charles!”
Summers-Valli revealed her pregnancy in December 2025, sharing a series of maternity photos on Instagram with the caption, “Making a lil family.”
In those images, Melton was seen kissing her bare baby bump and accompanying her to a doctor’s appointment.
While Melton and Summers-Valli have kept the details of their family life private, he has spoken fondly about the influence of his own father.
“I love him. He served in the Army for over 26 years,” he recalled during a December 2023 interview with the Los Angeles Times. “For four of those years, my dad was deployed during the Gulf War, including Desert Storm.”
With his father away, a young Melton took on a fatherly role for his siblings.
“He emphasized family and responsibility,” he remembered. “He talked about what it means to be a good man, and how a good man loves his family. He urged me to take care of my mom and sisters while he was overseas. I recall feeling emotional but determined not to cry. I understood I had to be strong and show my dad that I could manage while he was away.”
Since rising to fame, Melton has maintained strong ties with his family.
“Moments come and go,” he expressed to People in February 2024. “What remains constant is my family; they are with me every step of my journey. They are the ones who love me and provide me with truth.”
Regarding his romantic life, Melton had an on-again, off-again relationship with his Riverdale co-star Mendes from 2018 to 2021, later being linked to Chase Sui Wonders in 2022 and Chloe Bennet in 2023.
“People should really mind their own f***ing business,” he remarked to Hunger magazine in 2019, addressing the intense interest in his dating life. “I don’t use Twitter, which is one reason I avoid reading comments on social media because people will always talk.”
He continued, “People have always talked about my relationships, even before the age of Instagram. Back then, it was easier to ignore what was said. But it’s not for anyone to dictate my relationships. Not everyone will support them, and opinions are not facts.”
Melton further commented on how public scrutiny has led him to safeguard his personal life.
“I’ve become more aware of my actions and words, but deciding what I share on social media is ultimately my choice. If someone wants to dig deeper into my life without my consent, that’s on them.”
