Charles Melton of Riverdale Welcomes First Baby with Camille Summers-Valli
Charles Melton is set to take on a new role in 2026 — as a father.
“Creating a little family,” Melton’s girlfriend, Camille Summers-Valli, announced on Instagram on Friday, January 2, sharing several maternity photos.
In one adorable photo, Melton, 35, kissed Summers-Valli’s baby bump, and they also visited an OB-GYN appointment together.
“Mom and dad!!! Love you both so much,” commented Melton’s Warfare co-star Michael Gandolfini, while influencer Constance Govare expressed, “Oh my love ♥️♥️♥️♥️.”
Neither Melton, known for his role as Reggie Mantle on the CW’s Riverdale, nor Summers-Valli have publicly discussed their relationship. Summers-Valli is a filmmaker credited with directing Haim’s “Relationships” music video and a 2025 ad campaign for Coach.
Summers-Valli has kept her past relationships private, while Melton was previously linked to his Riverdale co-star Camila Mendes from 2018 to 2021 and Chase Sui Wonders the following year.
“People really ought to mind their own f***ing business, honestly,” Melton said in an interview with Hunger magazine in 2019, commenting on the intense fan attention regarding his relationship status. “I don’t have Twitter and it’s partly why I avoid reading all my comments on social media, because folks will always talk.”
He further explained, “No matter what, people have always talked, even before the age of Instagram. Back then, it was less common to hear discussions about you, and honestly, it’s not their place to judge my relationships. Not everyone will support or love your relationship, and people need to remember that opinions are not facts.”
According to Melton, his rising career in Hollywood has influenced how much of his personal life he chooses to disclose.
“I think, in some ways, I’m more aware of what I say and do now, but when it comes to what I decide to post on social media, I choose to share specific parts of my life,” the Sun Is Also a Star actor remarked. “If people choose to invest their time trying to learn more about me that I haven’t disclosed, then that’s on them.”
Focusing on his craft while keeping his private life out of the spotlight, Melton has remained dedicated.
“I believe that filming [May December] reaffirmed many of the aspirations I have as an actor—things I want to pursue,” he shared with British GQ in a May 2025 interview. “Maybe a couple of new doors have opened for me. I’m avoiding cliché answers like, ‘I just want to create art,’ but I think it all comes down to art.”
In 2023, Melton starred alongside Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore in Netflix’s popular age-gap romance May December.
“I believe the work speaks for itself, and I think I’ve gained recognition,” Melton noted, acknowledging his Oscars snub that year. “By the filmmakers I wish to work with, by the actors I admire, through the conversations I’ve had, and the relationships I’ve built.”
