Chase Stokes Posts Heartwarming Photo of Kelsea Ballerini’s Dog During Her Cancer Fight

Chase Stokes is expressing his affection for girlfriend Kelsea Ballerini’s dog, Dibs, as the pup fights cancer.

Stokes, 32, shared a heartfelt photo on his Instagram Stories on Sunday, August 3, featuring the sand-colored doodle gazing up with his big brown eyes. Ballerini’s hands were seen gently scratching Dibs’ back, while Stokes added a red heart to the image.

This photo comes nearly a year after Ballerini, 31, revealed that Dibs has “inoperable cancer in his heart.”

“He’s not in pain, and fortunately it hasn’t spread further,” she stated on her Instagram Stories in August 2024. “We’re going to start him on ‘big’ meds to ensure he has as many comfortable and happy days (weeks, months🙏) left as possible.”

Ballerini commended her mom and Stokes, whom she began dating in January 2023, for their unwavering support during this “complex and emotional” time.

“He’s been my baby and my rock for the last 9 years, standing by us throughout this journey,” she added. “I know many of you care about him and are sending prayers and love, and from the bottom of my heart… thank you. He’s wagging his tail right now, undoubtedly saying thank you too.”

Stokes reshared her message on his own Stories, with an additional note.

“It’s been a tough few days here. But our guy is in good spirits and enjoying all his favorite foods,” he mentioned at the time. “For everyone who has embraced him online or considers him family—thank you. Thank you for your love, thank you for your kind words.”

The Outer Banks star concluded, “Day by day, we have a journey ahead, but we’re committed to making it as enjoyable and loving as possible for him.”

Ballerini has kept her fans informed about Dibs’ progress since then. In December 2024, she shared encouraging news, reporting that her dog’s prognosis had improved.

“Sweet boy had another round of chemo today,” she posted on Instagram Stories. “Honestly, his initial prognosis was 4 months. That was 4 months ago. But he’s still strong and happy, so each day is a gift, and I’m extra grateful to celebrate the holidays together this year.”

Later, in March, Ballerini requested “healing thoughts” as Dibs completed another round of chemo, referring to him as “the strongest boy.”

“I’ll see him in two weeks and until then, I’m sending healing thoughts his way every single day. I appreciate all of you checking in on him and showering him with love more than you know. 🤍” she added via Instagram Stories.

Ballerini celebrated a significant milestone with her pup in June.

“Happy 10th birthday my sweet dibby doo,” the “Miss Me More” singer shared via Instagram Stories. “You’re my forever best friend, and I’m so grateful we can celebrate double digits of life together. You’re kicking cancer’s butt.”

Along with a few photos and videos of her beloved pup, Ballerini continued, “A huge thank you to everyone who has been keeping Dibby in their prayers and sending him well wishes. He loves you, and we’re incredibly thankful. That’s enough birthday spam for now. Time to cuddle him!”
